Mr. Big Deal (Mr. Big 4)

“Aren’t you going to call Luke and let him know what happened?”

“Should I?” I plopped down beside Candace. “What good will it do? It will just ruin his one chance at sleeping through the night.

Then, my cell rang, and I checked. It was Luke.

“Hey, babe,” I said. “Did Gord call you? I didn’t want to wake you up, since we’re all okay.”

“Yes, he did. And I’m glad he did. Are you okay?”

“I’m fine. Leif just had his feed and is now asleep. Candace and Mara and I are trying to decompress before going back to bed.”

“I’m coming home right now.”

“Don’t you dare! You go back to bed and sleep in. No need. I have the girls here and Gord is with us. Stay. Have breakfast in the room. You love their Big Breakfast…”

“I’m on my way. You go back to bed, and I’ll see you when I get home.”

“Luke…”

“I’m not taking no for an answer. I wouldn’t be able to enjoy the Big Breakfast, knowing what happened. See you soon.”

With that, he ended the call and I sighed and turned to Mara and Candace. “He’s coming home.”

“Aww, what a sweetheart,” Candace said. “He really loves you two.”

I smiled and nodded in agreement. He really did.

I was a lucky lucky woman.
