“Like I said, I’ll see what he says. Until then, I’ll keep my options open.”
“How long do you have to respond to her offer?”
“Next week, Monday at the latest.”
“I can see you’re going to have a very intense weekend. If you need a shoulder to cry on or a girl’s night out, I’m there for you.”
“Thanks,” I said. “I’ll probably need it. Maybe brunch on Sunday? At our old haunt?”
“That sounds just like what the doctor ordered.”
I smiled to myself and said goodbye.
Then, I sat staring out the window at the beach below the property. It would be hard to leave our beach house. I loved it and enjoyed taking Leif on a daily walk along the beach. I loved to sail and of course, my parents had recently moved nearby so they could be part of Leif’s life.
Could I give all this up for the position in Brussels?
It was a dream opportunity, like Candace said.
Still, I had the dream life when it came right down to it.
Handsome wealthy husband who loved and supported my dreams. Healthy baby. Almost finished my PhD. Family nearby to take over when Luke and I needed a night off.
