“Right,” I said and took a sip, pleased that he was so interested in Astra. He was no small player but was instead one of the biggest and most notorious aerospace investors in the business. I never for a moment imagined that the new investor was him or his company.
“To the future,” Ken said and stood, his glass raised. “To bringing the very best minds in the aerospace industry together to solve tomorrow’s problems and bring even more value to our shareholders.”
“Hear, hear,” I replied and raised my bottle. We all toasted each other and took a drink then Ken sat back down. For the next hour, he peppered me with questions about my history, although he revealed enough details to show he’d done his homework — or at least, had read the précis on me and Astra provided to him by his assistants. He had a sharp mind and was anything if not forward-thinking and future oriented.
I was more than excited to have Ken on board. In fact, I figured that if we could seal the deal, it would mean Astra would be a real serious player in the industry.
The sky was the limit, in other words.
I took Alexa’s hand under the table and squeezed it, then turned to look in her eyes. I could see she was happy with the way the evening had gone so far.
I couldn’t wait to get home with her alone…
