He pressed a finger to my lips. “Shh. I’ll only be a minute. Stay with Levin. Under no circumstances do you leave his side. Do you understand?”

“But I don’t want you to—"

He rested his forehead against mine. “I promise, it’s just talking. I need you to stay with Levin. Do you understand, Bianca? It’s dangerous tonight.”

I swallowed hard. Fallon had told me to stay away from the dance. Everything within me realized that Dominic knew why. I’d gone anyway and assured myself they’d protect me. Now Dominic was leaving with Vincent, apparently, to go have as secret squirrel meeting with Stella.

“I said, do you understand?”

“Yes,” I whispered.

He hesitated for a second before pressing a fierce kiss to my forehead. “I’ll be back.”

He set me on my feet and handed me off to Levin who stood beside him.

“Watch her,” Dom commanded before nodding for Vincent to follow him.

Vincent gave my hand a squeeze before leaving with Dominic.

I looked up at Levin. “Do you know what’s going on?”

He didn’t answer, opting to s

tare at some point over my head. I huffed out a breath, annoyed at him.

“Do you at least want to dance or something?”

“Sit,” he grunted, pointing to the chair Dominic had been in.

I flopped down, pissed off, and stared out at the sea of students dancing and having a good time. Two songs had gone by before Aubrey approached.

“Hey,” she called out, looking stunning in her sparkly, purple dress. The neckline plunged low. I knew it had taken a lot of bravery for her to wear it.

“Hey.”

“Want to come dance with us? Emy is here.” She glanced from me to Levin then back at me, a nervous smile on her face.

“No,” Levin answered for me before I could open my mouth. “Leave.”

“Hey—” I was ready to tear into him.

“It’s cool. Later, right, Bianca?” Aubrey’s smile faltered before she tucked tail and rushed off.

I swiveled to glare at Levin. “You asshole. What’s your problem? It’s just a stupid dance—”

“If it’s a stupid dance, then what does it matter if you do it?” He stared back at me impassively.

“You’re such a dick, Levin.”

He said nothing, opting to stare over my head again. I knew he’d shut down, so I crossed my arms over my chest and glared out at everyone having fun. Three songs passed before I felt a warm hand on my thigh. I turned to Levin as he leaned in.

“I’ll dance with you.”

Surprised, I widened my eyes at him. But I was a stubborn asshole too. “No thanks.”

“I wasn’t requesting it,” he said, standing and taking my hand. He pulled me to my feet and led me to the dance floor before wrapping his arms around my waist.

We looked ridiculous out there with him touching me and me standing there with my arms by my sides, so I sighed and gave in. I placed my hands on his chest and looked up at him.
