“Atwell said we could go through the horse barn at any time.” Mel steered Dean that direction. Kent and Dale were heading that way as well.

She caught Dean’s arched eyebrow and answered his unspoken question. “No, I don’t think either of them are part of the bigger problem.”

At this point, only Atwell made her suspicious. Spalding was merely a pawn who had likely been used and, for whatever reason, preferred to maintain an optimistic belief in the friendship.

She found that annoying, but irrelevant. She and Dean were here to keep the studio personnel safe from any hazard and their host was the most likely hazard of all.
