Breaking Her (Savage Brothers Second Generation 4)

“You think I’m going to arrange club meetings around your say so, asshole?” he huffs.
“Lyla and I are m-meeting with a realtor in the morning,” I answer, yawning.
“A realtor? You moving here full time?” Ford asks and I’m not imagining the way he’s staring at me.
“I’m not leaving Virginia. This is where my w-w-woman is happy.”
“You’re turning your back on your father’s club and moving here to be with Lyla?”
“Lyla and our b-b-baby. Yeah.”
“What’s your father saying about that?” Ford asks with a smirk.
“He’s good. Pissed he’s g-g-going to have to g-g-get along with you because of Tamsin.”
“Tamsin?”
“Tamsin N-n-nicole. Lyla came up with the name.”
“It’s pretty,” Ford says, continuing to look at me. “You really love my little girl?”
“Completely. I’m n-n-not letting her go.”
“What do you plan on doing?”
“I’m a good m-m-mechanic. I’ll provide for Lyla and the f-f-family we have.”
“I want Lyla safe on club grounds.”
“C-can’t happen if I’m n-n-not part of the club. And that w-w-won’t happen if there’s not room for Lyla to have a real house and a fenced y-y-yard for the b-b-babies.”
“Christ.”
I shrug. “I’m g-g-going to g-g-give her all the things her m-m-mother made her f-f-feel like she didn’t d-d-deserve.”
“Shit. She knows the truth about her mother?”
I nod.
“Fuck. Seems Lyla has been keeping secrets.”
“She d-d-didn’t want to hurt you. She said you tried to k-k-k-keep the truth hidden.”
“I don’t like it when Lyla hurts.”
“I don’t either.”
“You’d be a good addition to the club. We’re small and I figure whatever way this rolls out, I’m going to need someone to step up and replace someone. I just don’t know who.”
“This your way of asking me to b-b-be in the DCs?”
“You could do worse,” he mutters.
“N-n-not sure, since someone is out to k-k-kill one or both of us.”
“Semantics,” he says, making me laugh.
“I’ll talk with Lyla about staying c-c-close to the club.”
Ford nods. “I really wanted to kill you for hurting my baby girl,” he says finally, after staring at me for a few minutes.
“I d-d-deserved it.”
“Thing is, I think if I could pick a man for her, he’d almost be like you.”
“Almost?” I laugh, not really giving a damn. I am Lyla’s man and I’m never giving her up.
“I’d rather not have to play nice with your fucking father,” Ford grumbles.
I laugh, getting up. “Whatever,” I say, tossing a throw pillow at him as I get up. “I’m g-g-going to bed.”
“I’m serious, T. It chaps my ass. That old man of yours is an asshole,” he calls out after me. I flip him off, not bothering to turn around.
It appears I’m going to sit back and watch who can irritate the other more, my dad or Ford.
My money is on my dad.
Chapter 38
Thomas
“You know, I’m getting tired of walking into a room and only you assholes are the ones here,” King says.
I still haven’t figured out this guy’s story. I don’t even know how I feel about him—other than the fact I want him to stay the fuck away from Lyla. Grunt snorts and Ford gives his normal cocky grin. It’s a good thing I love Lyla because there are times I’d like to punch Ford just on principle to get rid of that look. Hell, and I even like him. It’s just the grin that’s annoying.
“Sit down and shut up, fucker,” Ford says and I roll my eyes. Maybe it’s more than his grin that bothers me. “Grunt was about to tell us what he’s learned following Sledge around.”
“That’s easy, fucking nothing.”
“Shit,” King mutters.
“I’m telling you, if the son of a bitch is the one that is going after you, man, he seems to have gotten it out of his system. The only time I see any signs of life out of him is when his old lady comes around.”
“Well, Gina would get my blood pressure up. Jesus, that woman is a bitch,” King mutters.
“You aren’t kidding,” Ford adds in.
“They act l-l-like they hate one a-another,” I add. Grimacing. It’s so frustrating dealing with my stutter. There are times I don’t have it—or at least it’s mostly gone. When I need to be strong around Lyla’s father, it flares up worse.
“Because they do. Gina is fucking toxic,” Grunt responds. It appears the three of them don’t pay attention to my stutter, they don’t even blink. There’s no dodging my gaze, either. It’s a weird feeling. Dom always avoided my eyes and Dad too, at times.
“Sledge is still the first on the list. I feel like anyone out to get me will make another move at this party. It makes the most sense. Plus, it’s when they will think I’m most vulnerable.”
“I d-don’t like it happening, though. I w-want Lyla home away from it all.”
“Yeah, I’m feeling the same way about Red,” Grunt admits. “I want her safe.”
“That’s why I’m trusting my best man to watch them,” Ford says.
