“Okay. I’ll get you saddled up.”
“I’m not ready to go today,” she screeches, slapping her hands on her slightly rounded hips. Her short form amplifies her womanly curves. I grit my teeth attempting to fight the hard on, that’s growing with every passing second. The sudden backpedaling only proved that she’s full of shit about riding.
Knowing that she’s lying is keeping my lust at bay. I’ve never had this instant reaction to a woman, and I know I can’t act on it. The insane way I want to throw her down on the dirt path and strip her bare is feral, new, and not gentlemanly. I cock my brow and step closer to her. She’s in danger and doesn’t even know it or maybe she does.
She takes a step back like a smart girl.
“Well, then I’ll sign you up for them. I have time to take you around tomorrow.” I reach out and cup her chin, letting her feel the roughness of my hands. She shivers as if the temperature has dropped twenty degrees. “Unless you want to tell me why you’re really here.”
“I told you why I’m here. With that attitude, I’m tempted to pass on the offer.” She tugs herself free of my hold. I love how she thinks she can fight this, but I can read the heat spreading through her body. It’s more potent than the sun’s rays blanketing the pastures on summer’s day.
“But you’re not. Name, sugar?”
“It’s Angel.” She’s lying to me again, but I’ll play it cool.
“Sugar, nothing about you is angelic.” She has sin written all over her pouty, red lips and I want to taste them so fucking much, swiping the lies right off them.
She stammers, “Um…what’s your name?”
“Raymond, but everyone calls me Cowboy.”
“You most certainly look like a cowboy.” She rakes her eyes up and down my body, checking me out and I let her have her fill. I smile down at her, letting her know I enjoy her eyes on me. She frowns because I don’t have any shame where she’s concerned.
“Cowboy, I’m ready….” Sammie stops between me and this wicked beauty. “Oh, hello.” Suspicion crosses Sammie’s face as she stares at me. We’re not a couple and her brother’s one of my best friends.
As members of the Steele Riders Motorcycle Club we have a strong bond. When his sister asked for horseback riding lessons, I agreed even though I didn’t have time for it. I don’t have time for anything between my ranch and the Riders, but I’ve just found I’ll make time for this little Angel.
“Hello, I’m Sammie. You are?” she asks, sticking her hand out waiting for a handshake.
“I’m Angel.”
“It’s nice to meet you, Angel.” She smiles at her and then turns to me. “Cowboy, are you ready? I have to be at work soon.”
“Angel, I’ll see you tomorrow then.” I wink at her, smiling at my little trespasser before returning to Sammie. “We better get to your lesson.” Angel rides on her heel and leaves. I watch her get into a Hyundai Sonata. It’s not a typical car around here which adds to my curiosity. She’s from out of town and sneaking around my ranch. I wonder if she works for a competitor or something like that. I’ve had several offers to sell my property. Even though I’ve only had it for less than a decade, it has flourished.
“What’s that about? She’s cute,” Sammie asks as we walk over to the stables.
“She wants lessons as well.” It’s what I tell her because I don’t want mouths wagging. Sammie’s a good girl, but if she’s concerned about someone lurking, she’ll tell her brother and I’ll have a shitstorm on my hands. I’m betting the girl is harmless. Still I’ll have to keep my eyes on her.
“You should have brought her with us.” I would have and then never let her go.
“She said she can’t, but I’ll make sure she will tomorrow.” I think about all the things I want to make her do tomorrow. I’ll give her a couple of lessons and rides she won’t forget.
“Do you have her information?” Shit. I’d been so lost in wanting to let her ride me that I forgot to get her damn number.
“No, but I have enough to find her in town.” Or so I fucking hope so especially with the cameras. If I have her tags, I can have them run and figure out who she is.
“Okay. Well, then let’s continue our lesson.” Maybe I should have gotten her information. No sense in worrying about it now. I’ll contact Cyber and have him track her down.
As Sammie settles on her horse, I shoot him a text message, giving him what I know at the moment, and then climb on Knight’s back. My trusted stallion has been with me for ten years, living at another stable until I bought this ranch.
