Unwrapped Kisses - Page 11

Jesus, I really am falling for her, aren’t I?

This whole “date” thing was just supposed to be a test—a way of proving to myself that she was just another gold-digger that I shouldn’t waste my time with. But it’s turning out to be the complete opposite of that. Faith has me totally fucking smitten, and that’s not a claim any other woman could ever make.

“Lance, are you sure—?”

“Stop being a pain in my ass and go shower.” I grin, tugging her skirt back down. “There’s nothing I’d like more than to hop in there with you and get a quickie in, but I’ve got to go be the boss.”

Faith bites her lip and looks up at me. “Mmmm, do you? Can’t the boss do what he wants?”

“He can if he wants his company to go down the drain.” I lean in and kiss her, relishing her sweet scent. “Don’t worry. I’ll make it up to you later.”

I leave her with a nice slap on the ass. She yelps and glances over her shoulder before hopping in the shower. I head back to my office, and for the first time that I can remember, my mind is on something other than business.

My company is my life. It has been for years and years and years. But now it’s like a whole world of possibilities has opened up before me. Faith, a woman who was nothing more than a pain in my ass yesterday, has wormed her way into my heart, and I just don’t know what to do about it.

This could be dangerous. She could be dangerous. I’ve barely even begun to get to know her, and already I’m thinking about what changes I could make to my life. How I could be with her more often. What she deserves and how to give it to her.

“Fuck,” I grumble as I begin scrolling through my e-mail. Normally, Jane would be here to read me the important ones, or Faith would go through them for me. But seeing as how they’re both busy, I’ve got to do it myself.

There’s the typical business-related stuff, and I forward a few of them on to the right departments, but just as I’m about to log out, a new e-mail appears. And it’s from Danielle.

Hey, stranger. Long time no see. When are we going to get back together so I can give you that sweet pussy of mine and you can give me your new debit card number?

“Jesus.” Danielle is just an old friend that has zero interest in dating me—nor do I have any interest in dating her—but we like to make jokes about it because she knows what it’s like for me to try and find an honest woman. I quickly write back.

Sorry, but I’ve found someone. The love of my life. If she doesn’t work out—which I doubt she will—I’ll hit you up. Or, I suppose we could just have an affair. You down?

Chuckling, I click send and log out just as Jane knocks on the door.

“Come in!” I call out. She does, her arms overflowing with bags of clothes which she sets down on the couch.

“That was fast.”

She winks. “That’s why you pay me the big bucks.” As she’s pulling out options, she stops and cocks her head to the side, then points an inquisitive finger toward the bathroom. “Is she…in there? Right now?”

I shrug. “I thought I’d let her use my shower.”

Jane stands up straight and puts her hands on her hips. She may be my assistant, and her job may mostly consist of just doing random things for me whenever I need her, but Jane is smart as a whip. Nothing gets by her.

“Uh huh,” she says slowly. “You thought you’d let her use your shower after you fucked her!”

“Whoa,” I laugh. “Easy there. This is a place of business. Keep your voice down.”

“You fucked her!? Are you kidding me, Lance? Jesus!”

“I didn’t!”

“She’s the daughter of one of your business partners!” she continues, scolding me like she’s my mother. “Not to mention she’s eighteen and probably just wants your money. Did you at least use a condom?”

Ugh. Fuck. Nope.

“We didn’t have sex, Jane—”

“Sure, sure, whatever,” she scoffs, waving her hands in the air. “Just don’t blame me when you’re at the courts getting a divorce and writing fifty thousand dollar a month alimony checks.”

Christ, why’d she have to put that image in my mind?

Jane spreads out the options she brought for Faith and heads out, but not before giving me a warning glance at the door. “Careful. That’s all I’m saying. Careful.”
