“It’s not something I ever thought I would enjoy, but you make it so good. My mind tells me I shouldn’t be enjoying this, but my body can’t help but respond. What are you doing to me?” She panted, surprised she could put that many words in a row together. Her body continued to respond to him, even though her mind was still fighting a little.
He pulled out and gently pushed back in, going further each time until he had just the tip in, “I’m going to go a little faster now, are you ready?” he asked against her lips.
“More, more please more,” she answered him, arching for him.
He started a slow thrusting and reached between them to rub her clit, while leaning down and taking her mouth. Her body arched and he could feel how close she was. He matched the rhythm of his fingers on her clit with his thrusting until they both came with a shower of sparks. He swore he saw lightning. It was the most explosive climax he had ever had. This woman was truly special.
Chapter Twenty-Four
Alan reached up and unfastened Theresa’s hands, then released her legs. Leaning back, he pulled her into his arms and they sat enjoying the warm water and sounds of nature. A place like this was definitely in his future. He wanted to be able to sit and hold her like this every night. He had fallen and fallen hard. There was no way he was letting this one go.
Theresa couldn’t believe what had just happened. There was no way she would have ever agreed to anything like this with anyone but Alan. No one could ever make her feel the way he did. Even though she had no experience before him, her heart knew that he was the only one for her. She hoped he felt the same way about her.
She turned and snuggled deeper into him if possible. She never wanted to be parted from him. Looking up at him, she couldn’t control her heart. “Alan, I love you,” she whispered quietly, not sure of his reaction.
He held her tight in his arms and let the water bubble around them, just relaxing and enjoying the feeling of holding her. Her declaration had been so quiet he had barely heard her, but when he answered, he could see it in her eyes. “I love you, too, baby,” he answered her, sure of his answer.
She sighed and relaxed, happy and content. She had given him her heart and he gave her his back. “You do?” she asked, her voice full of wonder.
“Yes I do, I. Love. You,” he reaffirmed. “Theresa, I love you with all my heart, I don’t know what is going to happen, but promise you will stay with me and be mine.”
“Yes, I love you,” she answered, throwing her arms around him.
“When we get back to town, I want us to live together, would it be all right if I moved into your house? We don’t have to talk about this now, but eventually, we need to think about where we want to live, your house, or buy a place. My place is fine for a bachelor, but not a family.”
“A family?” she questioned. She had never thought he might want a family. Children would be great, she had never had a lot of family and it sounded great.
“Yes, I think I might like a little girl with your spunk and beautiful hair, and maybe a boy to keep her company. How does that sound?”
“With everything that has been going on with Joe, I never really thought about a family. I think I would like that,” she answered him truthfully. Now that the fear of Joe and what he would do was almost a memory, she could live her life and not worry. Once the trial was over the matter would be settled and Joe wouldn’t have a reason to bother her anymore. Just a few more days and the nightmare would be behind her. It didn’t even matter how it turned out, if she lost the house she had Alan and a future.
They cuddled in the tub, enjoying each other and the warm water for a long while. When Theresa drifted off to sleep, Alan lifted her, dried her and carried her into the cabin, taking her to the master bedroom. Laying her on the bed there, he climbed in beside her and made love to her several times during the night, his need for her unrelenting.
They woke the next day and it was bright and sunny. The day matched their moods. After breakfast and another round of lovemaking, Alan told Theresa they were going to go into Aspen and do some shopping. Handing her a short skirt, and frilly blouse to wear, telling her to be ready in twenty minutes.
As they took the scenic drive through the mountains, they enjoyed the view and conversation. Theresa learned more about Alan and filled him in on her life.
When they got to town, the first stop they made was for a quick lunch, then they strolled and wandered in and out of shops. When they walked into a jewelry store, Theresa took a deep breath. Alan led her straight to the engagement rings.
The clerk walked up and Theresa could tell right away that the man had an attitude.
“Good afternoon, Sir, how may I help you and your daughter today?” he asked with a snotty demeanor.
Alan stood up very straight, put his arm tightly around Theresa and stared down at the man. “One! You just lost a huge commission. Two! You won’t be working here long with that attitude. Three! Good-bye!” He pulled her out of the store before the clerk or Theresa could react.
When they got to the street, Alan took Theresa to a bench and pulled her into his arms. “Honey, don’t even think about him and his attitude, it means nothing. He was just being a pompous ass and lost a huge sale because of it. There are lots of other stores and we will shop at all of them. Look at me.” He took her face in his hands and turned her to him.
Theresa looked up at Alan and she had tears in her eyes. “I know, he was just an ass, but are we going to have to deal with this a lot?” Theresa had never thought about the age difference, because she didn’t think of Alan has being that much older than her. He certainly didn’t act like it. He treated her like an equal, not a child.
But he was twenty years older than her, in fact, old enough to be her father. What would people think? What would his family think? How would they react? What a mess.
“Theresa, it doesn’t bother me. I don’t care about the age difference. I want you. You are the person I fell in love with whether you are twenty-five, forty-five, or eighty-five. It doesn’t matter to me. And I’ll love you until you’re ninety-five,” he vowed. He didn’t know what to do to convince her.
Now their mood had been spoiled. They continued to wander around, in and out of stores, but Theresa was subdued and when they did look at rings, unresponsive, giving non-committal answers and basically agreeing with anything Alan said. After the same response in three different jewelry stores, Alan gave up and decided that it wasn’t meant to be. He took her clothes shopping and then home. He had planned an evening in the city, but she couldn’t shake the mood.
They went back to the cabin and Theresa remained quiet regardless of Alan’s teasing. Nothing seemed to snap her out of it. He decided to go to bed early, maybe she was tired.
Theresa was quiet and subdued the remainder of their time at the cabin. Alan hoped part of it was worry over the trial, but was afraid there was more to it. He wanted to go back to Aspen and bust a certain store clerk in the face, instead he contented himself with a call to the owner and giving him an earful. What a mess the man had created. Alan wasn’t sure how to fix it. All he could hope was that with time and love he could show Theresa how he felt and she would truly know that it didn’t matter.
