Chapter Thirty-Four
Sofia
Shelli and Amelia squeal a lot.
Not in an annoying girl way, but in a truly loving sister way. It’s sort of adorable to see. Even if it does shake my eardrums. I don’t think Posey is impressed with me, but then, she hasn’t spoken much. While she’s in Shelli’s room with us, she’s on the chair, her legs under her chin as she looks at her phone. I’ve somehow found myself on the bed with Shelli and Amelia as they gush over some guy on Instagram. He’s gorgeous. Like supermodel hot. He’s not Ryan, but he’s pretty dang sexy. I think he’s a hockey player too.
I don’t know. I’m not getting much between the squealing and gushing.
“Oh my God, I can’t believe you’re still into him,” Amelia teases, shaking her head. “But damn if he isn’t hotter now. I mean, that hair…”
“Right?” Shelli gushes, a dreamy look on her face. She looks like a fairy with her little pixie nose and blazing blue eyes. Her lips are so thick, full, and I’m sort of jealous of them. I mean, I have great lips—Ryan devours them—but Shelli’s are stunning. People pay for her lips. Her hair is an awful blond that doesn’t match her skin, but I don’t think anyone cares. It’s for a part, and she’ll go back to dark hair when she’s done.
“I know it’s pathetic and I know he’s like six years older than me, but I can’t get over him. I just want to do him so bad.”
Posey snorts from her spot, and we look up at her. “Aiden Brooks would laugh in your face if you ever tried.”
Shelli glares. “Whatever! He would want me, he just doesn’t know it.”
Amelia giggles. “He’s never shown any kind of interest. I don’t know why you’re still so hung up on him.”
A sly little grin comes over Shelli’s face, and it makes me smile. She doesn’t seem the least bit deterred in her infatuation with this Aiden guy. I bet he’s better than Drew. “He just amazing. I mean, he’s so funny and so hot, and I hate that he doesn’t see me.”
She swipes the screen up, and I can see the appeal. He’s a good-looking guy, with his shaggy brown hair that falls over his shoulders. His face is so unique, hard but soft, and then he has these gray eyes that come out of the phone. Amelia isn’t impressed, though. “Shelli, he’s such a manwhore now. Ryan told me he’s never alone.”
She shrugs. “See, I have a chance.”
That has all of us laughing, though Posey seems bored. She’s wearing worn, holey jeans and a big T-shirt, and her auburn hair is long and curled at the bottom. She has such beautiful seafoam eyes, but unlike her sister’s pixie looks, hers are softer, thicker. She’s built sorta like me, not as muscular but with wide shoulders and a thick bottom. I happen to think she’s beautiful, but I can tell she’s jealous of Shelli and Amelia. I can’t blame her, though; they are a lot to handle. When she meets my curious gaze, she perks her brow. “Don’t you think he’s cute?” I ask.
“Aiden? He’s all right.”
Shelli rolls her eyes. “Posey is too much of a guy to ever like one.”
“Fuck you,” Posey sneers, her eyes wild and full of anger. “Just ’cause I’m not out there trying to screw anything with a dick doesn’t mean I don’t like them. God, you’re such a bitch.”
With that, she gets up and stomps out of the room. Shelli rolls her eyes. “Overdramatic much? I think she’s on her period. She’s been really testy.”
“Well, you were a bitch to her,” Amelia says, and Shelli shrugs.
“I was just teasing her.”
The dynamic between the three of them, to me, makes it seem like Amelia and Shelli are more like sisters than Posey and Shelli. That’s kind of sad, but it isn’t really my problem. Neither is the next thing I’m about to ask, but I need to know. I have been worrying about Amelia since she told me about this crap with Drew. I need to know what Shelli thinks, and I was waiting for Posey to leave the room. “So—”
“Girls, dinner is ready,” Elli yells.
Shelli and Amelia get up, and I follow suit as Shelli asks, “What’s up?”
I glance between her and Amelia. “Did Amelia tell you about Drew?
Amelia’s eyes narrow as she glances at me. Shelli shakes her head. “Oh yeah.”
“And?”
“It doesn’t matter,” Amelia says, walking ahead of us, and when Shelli looks at me, I know it does.
“I’m taking care of it.”
“Oh good. I’m extremely worried.”
Shelli smiles. “Don’t be. She won’t go.”
“She won’t?”
“Nope, not after I do the only thing I can do,” she says, and my stomach drops at the sight of her determined gaze. Before I can ask what she might be planning, she says, “I wanted to thank you for being so good to her. We’re so close, it’s hard being so far away from each other. Knowing she has you, though, makes me happy. You seem great.”
Wow, that’s nice. “Yeah, I love her.”
“She’s great, kind of dumb sometimes, but then aren’t we all when it comes to guys?”
Um…no. I grin at her anyway. “I guess.”
“Ryan seems very much into you.”
