I watch from down the street as that asshole Justice Masters drops Andi off after their third date. I gave her some space. Thought she’d dump him after date number two but here we are.

She better not invite his pansy ass inside. The stupid fucker puts a hand to her hip, and he takes initiative and kisses her, getting all handsy. A sense of relief hits me when the action stops as quickly as it began.

There’s no heavy petting on her end. She might as well be kissing a dead fish. I watch a little longer making sure he gets his ass back in his truck and leaves though she should probably be with a man like him. Just not him personally. He’s a lousy shit. I wouldn’t wish him on the nastiest of bitches. Always sticking his nose in our business trying to find anything to stick to us. He’s dirty. I can sense it. I just need to prove it.

Once I see that his truck is out of sight, I cross the street to her apartment and knock on the door. She automatically opens without looking, likely expecting it to be that dickhead.

“Forget something,” she greets before meeting my gaze.

“We need to talk.”

“Okay. What about?” She tenses, keeping the door between us.

“You going to invite me in?”

“I’m not sure that’s a good idea. I told you I’m seeing someone.”

“A dirty cop.”

The door opens and she steps back. “What?”

I enter even though she didn’t give permission or invite me. “Dude is bad news, princess.”

“Why are you doing this?”

“Because I care about you.” I take a step toward her, and she takes a step back.

“You scared of me?”

“No. I just don’t get it. He’s a nice guy. He’s well liked by the staff at the hospital and no one I’ve met that knows him has a bad word to say about him but you. I get that we had a great time. The sex was great but there’s more to a relationship than physical attraction.”

“This doesn’t have a damn thing to do with how wet I make your panties. It has everything to do with me being worried this fucker is tied into some bad shit that will get you hurt.”

“You mean like you.” Her words slap me across the face as though her hand is striking me because as much as I want to deny them what she speaks is true.

We’ve all been on edge because this Cloud Nine bullshit. Prez got wind she’s seeing the cop and knows I got a real hard on for her. Wants me to press her to give up information. It’s a perfect set up, but it’s dangerous. If something happened to her, I’d never forgive myself. If I can’t convince her he’s a bad person and to stop seeing him then I’ve got no choice but to do what’s best for the club.

“What? No smartass remark about my panties. If he’s such a bad guy, prove it. Show me what he’s done.”

I shake my head. I shouldn’t have said shit. “I can’t. I don’t have it. Not yet. But I will.”

“Leave Justice alone and if some part of you thinks you like me then let me be happy.”

I get in her face, and she doesn’t shrink away. “You think he’ll make you happy? Watched the two of you. Saw him putting his hands on you and you know what I didn’t see? Didn’t see you lighting up for him like you do whenever you look at me. Even now. You may be pissed at me but if I kiss you, princess. We both know your clothes are gonna fall off, and I’ll be buried so deep inside you it hurts.”

Thwack. Her palm connects with my jaw. I rub my stinging face and grin. “Truth hurts, sweetheart.” I grab her by both wrists, pulling her body tight against mine as I push her up against the wall. “Tell me you aren’t turned on right now. That you don’t ache for me to kiss them lips and remind you what it’s like to be with a man who makes you feel.”

I crash my mouth down on hers and she can deny it all she wants but she belongs to me. I plunge my tongue between her lips, and she welcomes the intrusion. Her body writhes against mine to the point she’s panting into my mouth.

“Told you.”

Her palms press into my chest, and she shoves me hard enough I go back a step. “Stop it.” Andi shoves me again and I chuckle. “This isn’t funny. My emotions aren’t a game. You don’t like my boyfriend. Cool. I don’t like everyone you fuck either.”

“What would you know about who I fuck?”

“You think I don’t hear things. That people don’t talk?”

“I’m not ashamed to admit that I like sex, babe. But clue in. Only woman I’ve got a hard on for lately is you.”

She licks her lips. “I don’t believe that for one second and if you think I do then you’re a bigger jackass than you currently look. I haven’t heard from you. Haven’t saw you. And you show up here expecting what? Me to jump your bones and pretend you didn’t shit on me for a second time. After my first date I called you, and you didn’t pick up. You know who did? Some whore who said you were too busy to talk because you were eating her out. So no after that I’m done with whatever I might have thought I was feeling about you.”

Fuck me I don’t know what she’s talking about. “This how you wanna play this?”

“There’s no play here. No game. I’m seeing Justice and I’d like you to go.”

“We both know you don’t want me to leave.”

“I. Want. You. To. Take. Your. Big. Bad. Tattooed. Ass. To. Your. Bike. And. Go.” She enunciates each word like I’m slow or some shit.

“No.”

“No?” She scoffs.

“He ain’t the one for you.”

“And you think you are?”

“Maybe. I can’t make any promises, but I think this heat we got between us is worth exploring.”

“Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice, shame on you. I’m not volunteering to get burned a third time.”

“I’m an asshole. I know that, but you give me a shot…”
