But as long as she was bound to him, he could ensure it was all right.
“No. There is nothing better,” he said.
“But I am glad to have seen this.”
“Even though you’re not very happy with me?”
“Well. I did not exactly anticipate that I would see Iceland on a nonconsensual vacation.”
“A kidnapping?”
“No. You didn’t kidnap me,” she said.
“I think I have.”
“Absolutely not. It’s nothing more than a mandatory detour.”
“Kidnap.”
It took ten minutes for the cable car to reach the summit, and it stopped gently, letting them out at the automatic door to a long, heated corridor.
It was all glass, the windows looking out at the view on either side. “This is sort of terrifying,” she said.
“It’s beautiful,” he returned.
“I guess. If you love heights.”
“And I obviously do.”
“Sure.” She looked around. “So that is your game plan? Do you have a game plan?”
“You should know me well enough to know that I do. I will be finding out from a doctor how quickly we can get a paternity test.”
“Oh.”
“And the minute we discover if the baby is mine, you will marry me.”
