Summer Cursed - Page 102

They attacked quickly. After I killed one, another came at me from behind. He swiped at my back with his claws, the pain making me stumble forward. As I turned to face him, he lunged at me. Even as I sliced the sword through his neck, two more came at me.

“Where the fuck is she getting these bastards?” I asked no one as I readied myself for their attack.

They crept, one at a time, inching their way toward me. One darted forward, only to jump back again when I swung the sword. While he distracted me the other pounced, knocking me back. The other bit my arm causing me to release my hold on the sword.

I bucked my body, trying to knock the massive wolf from my chest, but he didn’t budge. He lowered his face close to mine, teeth bared, and breath warm on my cheeks. I snarled at him, showing him my wolf’s teeth.

He growled but didn’t move. “Get off me,” I said, wrapping my hands around his neck. I tried shoving him aside, but he still wouldn’t move.

I let go and tried reaching the sword I’d dropped. My fingertips hit it, but it was out of reach. He growled again before opening his mouth and lowering it toward my neck.

Before I could move, blood spilled out over my face and chest. I squeezed my eyes closed and held my breath. I couldn’t figure out what had happened, but the weight on my chest was gone. Someone grabbed my arms and pulled me to stand.

“Are you okay?” Liam’s voice asked.

“Uh, aside from being covered in blood, yeah.”

He wiped my face with something until I could open my eyes again. He was shirtless but otherwise looked okay.

“That was the last of them,” he said.

I looked around the grounds. “Where is she?”

“She snuck off while we were fighting.”

“Bitch.”

“There’s more.” His tone had me holding my breath. “They took Isaac.”

“What? No!” Before he could stop me, I ran to where I’d last seen Isaac. His blood was still on the ground, but he was gone.
