Flipp

Iwalked into my boss’s warehouse with my head held high. It was vital for me to remain confident as I dealt with my boss. If he saw a weakness in me, he would take advantage of it, and I was not a girl that you took advantage of. I might be just eighteen-years-old, but I was no fool. We had a weird relationship and he could be handsy at times, which disgusted me intensely. He thought he could get something from me, and that was never going to happen. I had no problem with putting him in his place whenever he tried to put his grimy hands on me. I wish I could say it deterred him, but I was fairly sure it just turned him on more. He was one of those males who liked when a girl talked back; it made the chase that much more delicious and challenging for him. The whole thing made me want to vomit all over his office. But, as long as I had to work for him, it was something that I had to deal with.

I entered the building and walked down a corridor until I got to a flight of stairs. The warehouse was just a bunch of metal, beams, and stairs. Most of it looked rusted, but it was all the aesthetic. It was hard to make a warehouse look pretty.

I quickly made my way up the stairs and headed to an area where my boss had his office. I didn’t bother knocking on the door; I just entered and found him behind his desk.

To say that he was large would be an understatement. He sat on a sofa behind his desk, because he was too big for a chair, and almost poured off the sofa. Every part of him seemed to drip out of his clothes. He was fat, and that was putting it kindly. He had the thinnest legs that I had ever seen, and I wondered how it was possible for him to stand up with all that weight. He was basically a blob that moved around, much like a worm, but he also had a lot of human features such as arms, eyes, ears, mouth, and a nose. He was a monster, but he also had some human in him. He was hybrid enough to be accepted into the monster society. No one would have believed the blob was completely human for a minute.

“Flipp, it’s about time you got here. You were supposed to be here an hour ago. So, when I tell you to be here, I expect you get your sweet little ass over here, pronto.”

He had a mirror above his desk, and I stared into it. At only eighteen-years-old, I had the body of a woman. I had a thin waist and a full bosom, with long legs and a firm bottom. I had two large, curved horns on the top of my head, which identified me as a monster, even though I was probably 80% human. My long maroon colored hair fell in loose beach waves perfectly, making the common human swoon with jealousy. I watched as they curled themselves into braids that I could twist around my horns easily. I had green eyes that lit up red when I tossed fire through my fingers. My skin was porcelain white, and my lips held a permanent pout. I knew that I was a stone-cold fox, but my looks often got me in a lot of trouble. More trouble than I wanted. But, there were times when it also helped get me out of trouble.

My gaze fell back down to my boss. “I was at the docks. I have some intel. Trust me, it’s worth the wait.”

His eyes lit up. “Oh, do tell,” he said as he patted his lap. My stomach turned as I realized he wanted me to sit on his lap. That little act was becoming tiresome.

“Come along, Flipp, whisper it into my ear.”

I obliged and sat on a chunky portion of what might be considered his lap. I tried not to shudder as he looked into my eyes. I bent closer down to his ear and whispered to him, telling him all about what I had found out about the Sirens and the Witch’s spells.

He beamed as his hand slid up my thigh and in between my legs. I smacked his hand away and got up from his lap. He had a grin on his face, he wasn’t even the slightest bit offended. Spanking was probably all part of his preferred sex acts, and the thought of it caused me to shudder.

“You can get plenty of flesh at the brothel. Stop grabbing me.”

He chuckled. “None of them even compare to you, Flipp.”

I ignored him. “You know the House of Lace can be all yours, if you can get your hands on the spells before anyone else can. You could be the one running it with all that power.”

He nodded. “I like the way that you think.”

He shouted for some of his men, and they entered the office. They were your standard flunkies, all muscle, zero brains. “We need to leave for the House of Lace, so get ready.”

Two men nodded and left the room. The boss got up from the couch, which was a laborious process. It took him a long time to stabilize his weight on his stick legs, and to make sure that he was appropriately balanced. When he's finally found his center of gravity, he made his way towards the office door, and then he turned to me.

“Let’s go.”

“Why do I have to go? I’ll just wait here for my next job. House of Lace is too posh for me anyway.”

“Because I don’t trust you. Let’s go.”

I rolled my eyes and headed out of the room with him. He had island horses that he often rode, and they were bigger than a car. I always found them to be a little unstable, and I hated riding on them. If they bucked you off, you would be trampled instantly.

The House of Lace was a large building on the “nice” side of the island. It was the place where the 100% humans were auctioned off. It was rumored that there was an auction going on, so I knew that something was about to go down with the Witch’s spells. My boss needed to get to them first, and if he did, he would be the most powerful monster on The Demon Isle.

We pulled up to a large house that was three stories tall and had windows all around it. The top floor was where the auctions typically took place. There was a wraparound balcony at the top, where clients had drinks in between humans being auctioned off. It was a colonial-style home that depicted a southern, warm atmosphere to the untrained eye, but what was really inside was a house of horrors, at least for the humans. Humans were used and abused in these parts, and I didn’t envy them one bit. If it wasn’t for my horns, I would quickly have been passed off as a human, and turned into an enslaved person.

I got off the island horse that we rode in on. It was three times the size of the horses that humans used. We all had our own that we rode in on. The boss slid off his horse, and I actually felt sorry for the beast, having to cart that weight around on its back. It took a while for him to get moving to the front of the building, and the security looked irritated by the time he got there.

“I’m here to claim the spells.”

One of the guards laughed heartily at him. “Our people have already claimed the spells. You missed out. It happened just a moment ago.”

“What? The auction hasn’t even started.”

“We don’t need an auction. The spells are in our possession.”

I hadn’t realized that the boss’s entire body could go red in a single second until that moment. He looked like he was going to combust. He turned to me.
