I ignored his comment and turned around to see Xagon coming up to us. He had blood splatter on his chest and I cringed.

“So, Xagon, tell us about the intruder.”

“Well, you’re not going to believe this, but he’s here for Flipp.”

“What?!” both Azil and I said at the same time.

“He saw you when you were still on Demon Isle. He thought you were someone else, so he stowed away on the ship so that he could follow you. He’s been here the whole time. He only revealed himself because he felt you were in jeopardy.”

I was speechless. He was here for me. Here to protect me.

“Who does he think that I am?”

Xagon glanced at Azil and then back to me.

“The Demon Queen, Lilith.”

I blinked. “What? The Queen is dead.”

Xagon smiled. “Not according to our new friend. Apparently, he believes that you are the Queen reborn.”

I looked at Azil who was looking at me with new interest. “I’m not,” I said to him.

He laughed. “Oh, I’m fully aware of that, my dear.”

I looked back at Xagon. “Is he insane?”

Xagon shook his head. “No, Flipp, it doesn’t appear that way. He really does believe you are the Queen.”

“But, why?”

“I’m not sure. You must have some type of resemblance.” He considered my face and I glared at him. “I can see it in the horns.”

“Screw you.”

“Hey, being compared to a Queen is hardly a terrible thing.”

I threw my hands up in the air. “I’m pretty sure she used to eat her enemy’s hearts.”

Xagon smirked, but then his eyes went dark. “He wants to protect you, Flipp. He is determined to keep you safe.”

“Brimstone!” I had never felt more awkward. I didn’t know what to say to either of them, but there was a part of me that was intrigued about the whole thing. I had to admit, the idea of having a tall, dark, strong warrior to protect me was not a bad idea.

“Where is he now?” I asked.

“Don’t get too excited there, Flipp. You’re not going to be hanging out with him.”

I sighed. “I don’t want to hang out with him, but I think I should probably have a few words.”

Xagon looked irritated. “Not yet. He’s with the Hirpy for now, but we don’t need you in there aggravating the situation.”

“What are you going to do with him? He shouldn’t be a prisoner. He saved my life.”

“I don’t care.”

“You know, believe it or not, you don’t always have to be an idiot.”

Azil laughed loudly. He started clapping his hands. “Nothing scares you, does it, Flipp?”

“Oh, believe me, plenty scares me.”

“Well, Queen Lilith, what shall we do about him?”

“I’m going to see him.” I walked away from them without even looking back.
