He shook his head. “Where is all this negativity coming from, Flipp.”

“I’m in a damn prison cell, Azil.”

“Fair enough.”

I raised an eyebrow.

“Trust us, a Denon of that size cannot stay hidden in Wayde. I’ve already sent a search party out. We will find him by nightfall, I promise you that. And when we do, he will come for you.”

I nodded, hoping he was right.

“We must go now, there is lots to be done, much careful planning to do. We will see you soon enough. Eat, get your energy up, and be ready for a fight.”

I smiled my first real smile since being in the cell. I had to believe in the plan because there were no other options. If Drayven didn’t come for me, I would die in that cell, or at the hands of the Queen when I requested it. He was my only hope.

I slid my hand out of the cell and Xagon grabbed it, holding it for a moment.

“Please trust us, Flipp. I know we don’t deserve it, but we are going to do our best to get you out of there. You have my word.”

I nodded, not bothering to tell him that his word was Denon poop at this point. It was a nice sentiment though, and this would be the last time I trust them if they fail me again.

They turned and left, and I watched them walk down the corridor, my heart felt heavy. I wanted to leave with them.

I turned away from the cell and flopped down on the cot. I closed my eyes and willed that Azil’s plan was going to get me out of there.
