‘Want some more?’

My eyes widen. Caleb’s controlling the vibrations! Across an ocean, on a different continent, he’s still found a way to drive me wild.

‘yes please’ I text back, and wait for the pleasure to start again, but there’s nothing.

‘Be a good girl, and maybe I’ll let you have some more.’

I give a snort of amusement—and frustration.

So that’s how he’s going to play it. Still, it feels sexy to have a secret like this. I straighten up my clothes, and head out again, wondering when he’s going to let me taste that pleasure. I cross the office, anticipating his move with every step. All the way to the lobby, around the block to pick up lunch at a café…

I’m waiting for him.

Wanting him.

As I’m waiting in line, I get a call from Olivia.

Talk about bad timing.

I let it go to voicemail, then listen after she’s left a message.

“Juliet, hi, how are you?” she sounds friendly, but there’s an impatient note to her voice. “Just checking in… I know Caleb is out of town this week, so I’m expecting you to be able to take a closer look at his affairs. We need to catch him in the act if the charges are going to stick. Remember, your reward is dependent on what proof you find. Call me!”

I gulp, feeling more conflicted than ever. When this whole thing began, nothing was more important to me than pulling off this assignment and getting the reward money for my mom.

But now everything’s changed…

So am I dragging my heels because I don’t need the cash any more, or because Caleb is winning me over?

I’m not sure, I just know that the data I found on the flash drive looks incriminating. But I’m not willing to hand it over to Olivia and sell him out without giving Caleb the chance to explain first.

I tuck my phone away, and approach the counter, about to grab my food to-go. But then I see someone waving from a table by the window. It’s David.

“What a coincidence,” he says, as I bring my takeout box over.

“You mean, that this is the best place to eat within two blocks of the office?” I tease.

He grins. “Why don’t you join me? I could use your opinion on some of the anniversary plans.”

“Me?” I ask, surprised.

“You seem to have good taste—in sports, at least,” he jokes. “And maybe you can tell me what Caleb will hate, and save us both the trouble.”

“Sure,” I agree, and take a seat. But I’ve barely taken the lid off my salad, when I feel a sudden buzz throb through me, deep inside.

The vibrator!

I let out a yelp of surprise, clutching the table.

David looks concerned. “Are you OK?”

“Yup!” I blurt, as another buzz shudders through me. “Just a… Cramp.”

“I’m sorry, I hate those,” David says, sympathetic, and meanwhile, I have to clench to keep from moaning out loud.

He pulls out some publicity materials, and begins running through the different text options.

Another pulse vibrates.
