Tristan
Tristan was shocked. He’d never had a weapon like that used against him, or even heard of one existing.
He lay on the forest floor for two and a half hours. And finally it began to wear off.
He rolled over and pushed himself to his knees, still shaky. He grabbed onto a tree trunk and hauled himself up, leaning against the tree and panting. He picked his phone up, fumbling and dropping it once before he finally got his text messages pulled up.
I'm on my way back. Don't let any strange females onto pack land.
Roman replied immediately. What the hell do you mean?
His phone rang half a second later. "What are you talking about?” Roman shouted.
"You remember Violet. The female I was looking for?"
"Tristan, I don't think anyone could forget."
Tristan ignored that. “She used a spell against me. It paralyzed me. She said she’d do it to the entire pack if I didn't leave her alone.”
"What the fuck,” Roman shouted.
Tristan could hear noises on the other end of the phone. Roman was probably walking out of the cabin he shared with Everleigh and his two kids.
"How are you so calm?" Roman demanded.
"Because I finally found her. Seven years and I found her by chance. She's definitely my mate."
"Have you lost your ever-loving mind? I knew you were insane over this female, but this is too far. I'm going to declare her an enemy of the pack. I’m going to put her description out, along with her photo, and make sure she can’t hurt anyone else"
"Okay that's too far. She's not dangerous."
“I think she is. She left you paralyzed."
"I was out in the woods, so I was fine. It was in an area where humans don't go. They can't get to it,” Tristan said.
"Yeah,so what? What if another shifter had come along and attacked you? What if a hunter with a silver blade had come up? Even if she didn't want to kill you, she would just be responsible. You could have died anyway."
Tristan thought Roman was overreacting, but he wasn't going to convince Roman otherwise. Roman always thought he was crazy for still wanting Violet. Even though Roman's own romance had started out in a tumultuous way.
"In fact, if one of our pack finds this female, we are going to take her into our custody. We will have her banned from Alaska."
"No. You can't do that.” Now he regretted telling his brother the truth.
"I think you'll find that I can do that. Do you want to push me?"
Roman was right. He was the Alpha, but banning her was extreme. "No. I just want to talk."
"I have a mate and pups to protect, as well as an entire pack. I realize she's your mate and you’re protective of her, but you can't be protective of her on our land, not if she’s going to do really crazy stuff like paralyze you.”
He and Roman continued to go round and round, arguing, with no end in sight. Not that he expected them. By the time he arrived back on pack land, Roman had gathered Derek and Jameson into his office.
Derek walked up and hugged Tristan, patting him on the back. "I'm sorry, man. I'm sorry your mate did this to you. But I agree with Roman.”
Of course, he did. Derek had his own mate now. That's how it worked; all of them got their mates, but he didn't. When Tristan found her, she didn’t want him.
Stop feeling sorry for yourself.
Your Alpha has made up his mind and his advisors will agree with him. And hell, if you were involved, you’d agree with them.
