ChapterTwenty-Five

Two months later…

I lie on the mat breathing heavily, sweat coating every inch of my skin, my body aching in places it never has before.

“You think she’s dead?” I hear one of the kids ask, but I can’t find the energy to open my eyes right now.

“Of course, she’s not dead. I can see her chest moving.”

“So basically, you’re staring at her tits.”

“And you’re not? Are you gay?”

“Did you catch me staring at your dick? No.”

“Doesn’t mean you don’t want it.”

“I’m not gay. Ask your mama.”

“You leave my mama out of this.”

“I might not be dead, but you guys are kind of making me wish I was,” I complain, opening my eyes to glare at the arguing idiots who grin at me unrepentantly.

“We were worried about you, Mal. I was going to offer some mouth-to-mouth.”

“I just bet you were.” I laugh, sitting up with a groan.

Blink lifts his head from where he’s lying beside me and stares at them.

“Look at my woman’s tits again, and I’ll rip your eyeballs out of your head and feed them to you.”

He drops his head back down before muttering only loud enough for me to hear,

“Just as soon as I can feel my legs.”

I laugh, then groan when it pulls all my stomach muscles.

Graves and Vega walk over with shit-eating grins on their faces, offering us both a hand up.

“Not so cocky now that it’s your turn, huh?”

“I take back everything I said about you two being weak-ass pussies,” I admit.

“Wait. You didn’t call us that.” Vega frowns.

“Oh. I must have just thought about it. Anyway, you’re right. Working with these old school weapons is a whole different ball game. I’m not sure I can lift my arms to grab your hand,” I whine, making Graves laugh.

He ignores the fact that I’m sweating like a whore in church—and probably smell like one too—and scoops me up off the floor, making me groan.

“Make yourself useful, boys, and get some water,” he calls out as I close my eyes again and snuggle into him.

“Oh no. No sleeping for you. You’ve gotta stretch, hydrate, take a shower, and eat first.”

I groan “That sounds like a lot of things. I did a lot of things yesterday, Graves. I don’t want to do any more things today.”

He ignores me, carrying me out of the ring and through the gym.

I figure he is going to let me have my way since he doesn’t argue with me. Then I hear the telltale sound of the shower turning on a second before my eyes snap open, and I’m shoved into it.
