Alessandro DeLuca - Page 32

His lips are soft and plush like I expected them to be. An unexpected rush of heat fills me up from my toes to my face. I lean into the kiss, encouraging him to take it deeper, and he does.

Alessandro’s grip tightens at my hip, and his other hand entwines in my hair as he cups my head, deepening the kiss before biting my lip. I moan, and he licks the place where he bit down.

When Alessandro goes in to kiss me again, I open my mouth to him, allowing him to explore the depths of my mouth. I can feel his arousal pressing against my thigh, and I can’t help but think I’m triumphant in my first phase of gaining his attention.

“Does that answer your question?” he asks, pulling back.

“Yes, I guess it does,” I reply, turning away from his penetrating gaze.

Picking up his glass from the railing he’d set it on, he asks, “Now tell me more about you.”

“What do you want to know?”

“Other than that, you’re a woman who loves a bit of danger and likes living on the edge?”

“What makes you think that I’m that woman?”

Shrugging, he says, “You think that I’m in the mafia and that I’ve possibly murdered people. You know that I’m dangerous and that I don’t like liars or like to be crossed, but you keep seeking me out.”

Laughing, I reply, “I’m seeking you out?”

“Yes, Miss Campbell. A woman who sneaks into a club after starting chaos in a line full of people is certainly after something and a good time at a club isn’t on that list.”

I swallow, realizing that he saw everything. “My money’s a bit funny, and your club isn’t inexpensive. Sometimes a girl has to make do with what she has,” I lie.

Reaching for my hand, Alessandro pulls me close to him.

“You don’t have to start fights to gain access to me, Miss Campbell. Knowing that you want the pleasure of being in my company is enough for me.”

His fingers trail down my arm, sending a shiver up my spine. I try to hide my reaction by sipping my wine.

Alessandro pulls the glass away from my lips, smiling down at me.

“Don’t be shy. Whatever you want, just ask. I’ll give it to you.”

“That’s good to know. And you? What do you want, Alessandro?”

He presses a kiss to my lips, tilts my chin, and then licks the pulse at the base of my neck.

“You,” he says.

The doors are opened before I can respond, and one of the men I’ve seen around the club steps out.

“Boss, we’ve got something urgent that needs your attention,” the man says.

Alessandro looks at me and then the man, who gives him a brief nod.

“Miss Campbell, I’d like to see you again. Before I leave the club tonight, I’ll make sure that happens,” he says, immediately leaving me on the balcony alone.

I breathe a sigh of relief that I’ve taken the first step toward what I’ve been wanting. There’s no limit to the cost I’m willing to pay.
