Viola
On Saturday, Dino drives me to St Michael’s. The lawyers confirmed that Jude can have visitors, but only on weekends.
On the way, I send Dante a message that I’ll have what he needs very soon. Of all the things I thought might happen, me hiring Dante was not something I considered. There are just some hits you can’t do alone. Polina of all people reminded me of that.
Getting Dino to agree to help me get close to his brother is a start. But I wasn’t expecting Jude to sacrifice himself the way he did. No rat would ever put themselves in harm’s way, that’s where Jude and I differ. Dino too. He’s too fucking keen to turn himself in. I don’t get it. He has a get out of jail free card, and he’s crying about it.
Lorcan understands.
He’s the only one who does.
“V” Lorcan calls softly, as I enter the room. The way he says it makes the hair on the back of my neck and on my arms stand up. I kiss him hard enough to make him hiss in pain. Good. Because you fucking nearly left me.
“Only I get to end your life,” I remind him.
He smirks. “Love you too, Venus.”
I raise a brow, questioning his sanity.
“The fucking goddess?” he says, like I’m an idiot. It must be the drugs they’re giving him. He’s completely high right now, if his pupil size is anything to go by.
“I know who Venus is. For someone who thinks nicknames are dumb, you sure do give a lot of them,” I say.
“Just shut the fuck up and kiss me again.”
My lips find his. As his tongue sweeps inside, I bite down, enjoying the way he groans beneath me. Then I pull back, teasing his lower lips between my teeth.
“Just you wait until I’m out of this fucking bed,” he growls.
“I’ll have to get Dino and Jude to see to my needs until then,” I say.
His eyes blaze but he grins. “It’s like that is it?”
“I’m not fucking arguing about it.”
“I never said I was,” he counters.
“Good.”
“You might be waiting a while for Jude though,” he says.
“He turned himself in, didn’t he?” The emptiness in my center feels more now that Jude’s actually gone.
“I told you, there’s a plan to get him out.”
I cock my head. “Share, why don’t you?”
“You’re going to have to trust me,” he says, shaking his head.
“Trust is fucking overrated,” I snort. When Lorcan isn’t broken, I’m going to fuck it out of him. Until then…
“How much would you pay me to gut the person who did this to you?”
Lorcan’s eyes narrow. “Kristian is untouchable. Plus he’s a Vice, you’d be starting a war between them and us.”
“Do you care?”
“Not really. You’d have to get Dino on board though.”
