A Promise of Torment (A Violent Agenda)

LORCAN
“Just give us one night to plan,” I say to Viola.
“Fuck off,” is her response.
The demonic look on her face tells me she’s not listening. She’s strapping all kinds of weapons to her body. Knives, long and short. Ones for throwing. There’s even a holster of fucking throwing stars. I shake my head when she pulls out the crossbow.
I glance at Dino. “Don’t let her leave.”
His brow knits in the middle. “And how the fuck do you expect me to do that?”
“Whatever it takes,” I say as I stride out the door.
I’ve seen Viola make rash decisions. I’ve seen her react with violence. But I’ve never seen her be a slave to her emotions. She’s pissed, but also hurting. The pain in the depths of her eyes is clouding her judgment. I need to stop her.
Fucking hell.
Dante needs to stop her.
She only seems to listen to that dickhead lately.
I find him in the gym running hard. The sweat is pouring off him. The bastard is ripped. No wonder Viola has wet fucking dreams for this guy. He’s a goddamn machine.
“Rebecca’s been found,” I say, slightly out of breath. I hate myself for having to lean against the wall, sucking air in like a bloody fish.
“Where?” Dante asks as he stops running, frowning as he takes his earphones out.
“White Jade Casino. Viola’s getting ready to raze it to the fucking ground,” I say, finally catching my breath.
He nods, casually grabbing his water bottle and towel from a side bench like we’re at some kind of holiday resort.
“You need to stop her.”
“I don’t need to do anything,” he says, knocking back a swig of his bottle.
I glare at him. “She’s going to get herself killed.”
“If you think that, then you don’t know our girl.”
I’m still breathing hard, so I take a few seconds to gather myself. Then I walk right up to him. “I don’t get you. You act like you care about her but all you care about is yourself.”
He smirks at me, dabbing his face with that fucking towel.
“Dante!” Viola stalks into the gym as he looks up. She’s wearing a black, ballerina skirted, cocktail dress with black high heeled boots. She’s also carrying a semi-automatic pistol in one hand and a crossbow under the arm of the other. Her ponytail swishes, and flashes of her knives show under her skirt as she walks toward us.
She looks fucking divine.
“Get dressed,” she says to him. “You too, if you’re coming with us.” She looks at me, just as Dino appears and raises his palms up when he sees me. He has on a black suit jacket with the tell-tale sign of a concealed gun under it.
“Don’t fucking try and explain it,” I say to him. I don’t want to know.
Ten minutes later, we’re all in Dante’s fucking car heading toward a massacre.
“Please tell me there’s a plan,” I say.
Viola looks over her shoulder. “Find my mother and Lily, kill anyone who tries to stop us.”
Dante sighs. “What she means is you both stay in the car. Keep your phones on. Be ready to drive as soon as we tell you to.”
