“Of course not. I’m going to need your help.”
“Oh?”
I look around the office and back at the door, checking we’re alone. When it’s apparent that Dante is not in earshot, I sit down, facing her desk.
“Do you remember I asked you for an untraceable identity?”
“I remember,” Quinn says slowly. “You want it for you and Rebecca, right?”
“I need to take my mother far away from this mess.”
“And the boys?”
“I can’t take them with me.”
Quinn gives me a look. “So, you’re just going to keep on running?”
“I can kill Gigi and my father. Just give me the opportunity. But I don’t know if I can kill Dante,” I tell her honestly.
“I thought that might be the case. You’ve let him get too close, haven’t you?”
I grit my jaw at her words. Even Quinn can see he’s not to be trusted. “How long have you known he’s a potential rat?”
She cocks her head. “Since he left you to rot in that place.”
“Him getting me out now isn’t a coincidence, is it? My father said he’s got someone lined up to take out Duke.”
“Honey. I told you once. Dante is a disease. That man is a stone-cold killer. He’s going to either drag you down with him, or he’s going to be the death of you.”
“I need two untraceable IDs before then,” I nod at the wedding invite on the desk.
After a minute, she sighs. “I’ll see what I can do. I might know someone, but you’re going to need a lot of cash.”
