Lacey is behind the desk, on her knees, giving a boy a blow job. And the boy with his trousers around his ankles, tall and broad, with turquoise bleached hair, fisting her dark hair in his hands, is Romain.
I can’t take my gaze away from what I’m seeing. Romain has his eyes closed. Under the infirmary lights, he’s easily the most handsome of them all—an angelic face with a strong jaw, cheekbones that could cut glass, full cupid bow lips.
Suddenly, Lacey looks my way. Our eyes connect as she bobs her head frantically. Her smeared makeup, blotched eyes and cheeks, face streaked with tears, and torn uniform says it all.
“What the hell is going on here?” The words come tumbling out. Loud enough to be heard, but not a yell. Somewhere in between, that satisfies the outrage beginning to form in my gut.
Romain Montford opens his eyes and turns, catching me in his mesmerizing cornflower blue orbs.
He takes one look at me and pushes Lacey away, tucking himself back into his trousers. No hint of shame or remorse. No flash of recognition or of our history together whatsoever.
“Why the fuck are you here?” he asks in a smooth voice.
“I—,” I say under my breath. He’s just as bad. They’re all equally as guilty as sin. I take a step back into the other room, bumping into someone behind me.
“Don’t leave just yet. The party’s just getting started.” Zane sniggers as I move away from him.
“I asked you a question. What are you doing here, Miss James?” Romain asks, looking at me coolly as I draw in a breath.
“If anyone should be asking that, it should be me,” I say, trying to claw back a slither of control.
“We were just practicing our first aid training, weren’t we, Lacey?” Romain says without blinking an eye. He puts an arm around her shoulders, and she gazes into his eyes as he lifts her chin up with a forefinger.
She looks at him like he’s God. A pink tongue darts out to moisten her lips before she speaks. “Yes, we were practicing.” The blush on her face is sinful in itself.
Romain darts a glance my way. “See, Teach, nothing to worry about. Now, why don’t you leave us to finish our practice?” His voice is silky smooth. “Or you could stay and take notes?” Idly, he caresses a strand of the girl’s hair as she nestles closer, shivering from top to toe. “You might learn something, ” he says in a low voice.
“I’m reporting you.” Don’t think that I won’t.
His lips curl up at the ends. “No, you won’t.” His eyes are dark pools as he stares at me, running his gaze over the length of my body. “You aren’t capable.”
I square my shoulders, vaguely aware of Zane and Carter blocking my escape. “You don’t know what I’m capable of.”
“Is that a threat?” His eyes undress me easily with just one look, discarding every item I’m wearing until it’s like I’m bare for him to see. “It’s my word against yours.”
I’m out of my depth. My initial anger has cooled. And now all the warnings are loud in my head. My face is hot, and my heart is a loose cannon in my chest. I’m suddenly aware that apart from Lacey, I’m alone in a room with three guys, all bigger and stronger than I am. Olivia has fucked off already.
They seem to be aware of it too. In a few steps, the boys, men really, have surrounded me on all sides. I glance at Romain, refusing to beg for his help yet unable to look away.
Romain tilts his head, observing me. The way his eyes rake over me reminds me of a wolf seeing breakfast for the first time. This is the first time I’m seeing this side of him, and it frightens me.
Downright dangerous and devastatingly rich.
Stay away from the founder’s sons.
I gnaw my inner lip, suddenly wanting to get away from them. Or at least as far away as possible from Romain Montford. I readjust my stance, tightening my jaw as I give the boy, Romain, a run for his money. I may still be a student. But I’m a teacher here. I have the authority. Not these lads with their insouciant smiles and easy eyes.
Me.
They are just schoolboys. I must not forget that.
“I have Lacey’s word too. You were forcing her.” I say in retaliation, but all he does is laugh softly.
He peels his arm off from around Lacey and approaches me. I stand my ground. He comes closer until he’s towering over me, close enough for my nose to catch his scent. He smells expensive, a cologne full of dark notes and seductive scents.
“Was I?” He tilts his head. “Lacey, was I forcing you to suck my cock?”
Lacey shakes her head, eyes on the floor.
