“Everything okay, Mr. Prescott?”
“Yes, everything is fine,” I answer back, just as a I receive a text message from the pilot explaining that the next available slot is in two hours.
“Where to now?” Finnegan presses.
Knowing I have a little time to kill, an idea comes to mind. “I have two hours before going home, so would you mind driving me around for an hour?”
Finnegan shakes his head. “Of course not. Any idea where?”
I smile back. “You’re local. Take me to your favorite places.”
Finnegan seems pleased by the idea. “Sure thing.”
So, for a whole hour, Finnegan takes me to the local towns with their historic, quaint little shops, narrating animatedly as he drives me. My mind is awash with the idea of moving to a place like this. How glancing at the beautifully shaped green hills, and rugged mountains every day would not be something I would ever get bored of.
When the hour is up, I reluctantly ask Finnegan to take me to the airport, and that’s when the panic sets in.
Retrieving the stolen photo, I stare at Audrey’s huge, bright smile, all the while knowing that my life is about to be turned upside down.
