She’s the most perfect, pure little princess, but I love it how she has this wild side, too. How she’s eager to learn from me.

Because it’s all for me. All mine.

Two more blissfuldays pass on our private island. This microcosm where Maya and I are the only two people in the world.

And then I get a call from my ex-packmate. He’s found Demetrius. He’s with the Easton pack. Just like I guessed, he’s been trying to negotiate with one of the packs that hates on mine. This could mean a world of trouble.

But,according to my source, he’s screwing it all up because he’s a naïve motherfucker, and his life is in danger.

I’m pacing back and forth in the cabin, absorbing this information, while my little angel is lounging on one of the Adirondacks, her naked body kissed by the late afternoon sun.

My blood boils at his stupidity. At all the lives he’s putting in danger.

Especially Maya’s.

All the worry he’s causing.

I watch Maya through the glass panel in the door. She doesn’t know I’m taking a call right now. She’s singing to herself, idly fingering one of her nipples. I wonder if she’s thinking about me. I sure hope so.

Protectiveness burns in my veins.

She’s not a part of this world. She never should’ve been dragged into it.

Such a temptation to sit back and let the Easton pack take him out. Pretend like this conversation never happened.

But then I think of Maya’s face when I tell her I have him. That we’re going to take him home, and give her mom a chance at getting better.

What a goddamn dilemma: keep her safe, or make her happy.

When I end the call, I feel like hurling the phone across the room.

As I pushopen the door and walk out onto the deck, she spins to face me, a beautiful smile lighting up her face.

I go still, hating the fact I’m about to wipe that smile away. Burst the happy bubble of our existence. I try to keep my face neutral. Or as neutral as a craggy-looking face like mine gets. Maybe I don’t have to tell her anything. Play for time.

But a frown knits her velvety forehead.

Damnit. She read me. My little angel knows me far too well.

It’s crazy, we’ve only been in each other’s lives for a few short days, but I have the weird sense that we’ve always known each other. That there can be no secrets between us.

I dash toward her, scoop her up in my arms. Just one more swim together. She loves it when I toss her in the water and go in after her. She always shrieks like crazy and clings onto me, calling me her savior. Then I shove myself into her sweet pussy, and fuck her until she comes all over my cock, the two of us surrounded by the cool, dark waters.

But right now, she goes stiff in my arms, and fixes me with a sterner look than I’ve ever seen before.

“Forge, what is it?” she demands.
