There was a flicker of emotion in those red eyes, and then they were fading to purple, to blue…
“Ra’as,” she murmured.
He was her Ra’as again now, all that restrained power once again caged in his usual form, what was left of his shirt hanging off his wet torso in tattered strips.
His familiar, pale eyes fixed on hers with hot intensity.
He reached out to cup her cheek in his hand and she leaned into his touch, closing her eyes.
“I thought I lost you,” he murmured. “And I realized that I can’t live without you.”
She pressed her lips to his palm, and he pulled her close, thumbing open her jaw to devour her mouth.
Emilia was melting from the inside out. She didn’t care that she was soaking wet and had just fought for her life. The only thing that mattered was Ra’as’s touch and the knowledge that he cared for her more than she had thought was possible.
A happy sound reached her from somewhere far away.
Ra’as pulled back from their kiss, but kept her held tightly to his body.
“My mother and the kids are watching us from the window,” he told her.
“Oh no,” she murmured.
“They might as well know,” he growled in a determined way.
Before she could reply he took her by the hand and marched toward the house.
