“I don’t mean to put you on the spot,” she said, her voice softer now. “But I mean it. I won’t take it back.”
He kicked off the rest of his clothes and stormed into the shower, wrapping his arms around her and pressing his forehead to hers.
The steaming water pounded down on them both, hiding his tears.
“I love you, Emilia,” he told her fiercely. “With all my heart. Please don’t ever scare us like that again.”
She tilted her chin up, went on her toes, and answered him with a kiss so tender and soft, it was like a lullaby.
He could feel her trembling, as if with the effort of holding back the passion they both felt.
His own need had his heart crashing against his ribs, like it was straining to break free in search of hers.
She arched her back, pressing her breasts to his chest.
He groaned and lifted her up in his arms, her back against the tiles, so that he could nuzzle and lick her nipples.
“Ra’as,” she moaned, eyes closed.
Need surged through him again, and he had to pause for a moment before continuing to ravish her breasts.
Her breath came in harsh pants, and she twined her arms around his neck, pulling him closer and wrapping her thighs around his hips as if begging him to take her right here, with the hot water sliding around them.
Sun gods, how that would feel…
“No,” he murmured. “No, not like this.”
