“It’s enough,” April said carefully. “But we should buy some other groceries too.”
Bo looked frustrated, like she might just want to go home and start painting rainbows of different jams on her bread.
“Can you help me, Bo?” April asked. “I want to make sure I get things your dad and sister like to eat. But I’m worried because I don’t know where to begin.”
She could see the exact moment when Bo realized how important this job was.
“Okay, April,” Bo said proudly. “I’ll help you.”
“Thank you, Bo,” April said. “I’m so glad you decided to come with me today. I don’t know how I would do this without you.”
And even though she might be laying it on a little thick, April really was glad to be spending time with the young girl.
This was going to be a really good job.
