“One thing leads to another,” Khall said angrily. “Especially here. Leading on a man who has scant chance of finding a woman is cruel. A lot of males might take things into their own hands.”

“You’re a fine one to talk,” she exploded at last. “You’re full of judgements about the intentions of every other man on this planet, but the only one who has touched me without my consent is you.”

She had a lot more to say, but his face fell instantly, his shame almost palpable.

“I’m so very sorry, April,” he said quietly. “I don’t know what I was thinking. I wasn’t thinking. I hope you can forgive me, and that you won’t leave my girls because of my horrible behavior.”

“We have arrived at your destination,” the droid announced.

Khall leaned forward again to pay, then he climbed out of the hover car and offered her his hand.

She took it, drowning in the sensation of his flesh against hers, even as she coached herself to resist her desire.

They stepped into the lobby together and strode past the desk.

“Captain Rivvor, your package,” Deerborne called out.

Khall took it without breaking his stride.

“The young ladies haven’t made a peep,” the man called after him.

“Thank you, Deerborne,” Khall said, swiping the hand holding the small box against the one that was wrapped around April’s, presumably to send a tip.

“Heaven’s sir, that was unnecessary, I’m always glad to…” but the rest of Deerborne’s words were cut off when the elevator doors closes behind them.

Khall gazed at April, his amber eyes flashing with a wild intensity.

His eyes traveled down to their hands, and he let go of hers.

She felt a pang of disappointment. But he was showing self-control, and that was a good thing, much better than last time.

What kind of person just slammed someone against the wall of an elevator and kissed them?

She cleared her throat and looked up at him, intending to start the conversation she had decided to have with him when she was back at the club with Emilia.

He clenched his jaw, as if determined to hold himself back. There was something beautiful about the pain of self-denial in his eyes.

Before she knew what was happening, she was pressing her hands to his massive chest and going up on her toes to kiss him.

What am I doing?

But his mouth tasted like heaven, and she couldn’t stop.

At first, he was frozen under her touch. Then his desire seemed to awaken.

She felt herself being spun around and slammed into the wall, his hard body pinning hers in place as he took over the kiss.

The box hit the floor, but he didn’t seem to care. His big hands closed around her hips and then he was lifting her up.

She wrapped her legs around his waist and kept kissing him.

The elevator chimed, and she heard him kick the package out into the apartment.

By the time the doors clicked shut, he had carried her halfway to his bedroom without even turning on a light.

He kicked open the door to his room and placed her on the floor in front of his bed, then pulled back to look at her, panting.

She blinked up at him, barely recognizing the wildly gorgeous man in front of her. The rich green of his skin tone had deepened to the hue of a winter pine. His amber eyes glowed with lust.

“If you want to go,” he growled, “you’d better go now.”
