Pia looked at her boots.

“I like my whole outfit,” she said after a moment.

Well, she had tried.

“Is this normally the kind of thing you wear to your play group mornings?” Yasmine asked.

“Yes,” Pia said, nodding twice.

“Okay, I believe you,” Yasmine told her.

In the grand scheme of things, a wild outfit wouldn’t harm anyone, and it was important to show Pia that she trusted her.

Pia looked up at her in wonder and she could almost feel the click as the little one realized that she had her nanny’s respect.

“Should we go wake your brother up?” Yasmine offered.

“I will,” Pia announced, streaking out of the room and down the hall before Yasmine could respond.
