She slammed against my chest so hard, the breath left my lungs. I scrambled to catch her and fell to the floor with her on top of me.
“Ouch.” She winced. “Sorry.”
I didn’t realize how close she really was until I could see the specks of sparkling green in her bright-blue eyes.
“You have really pretty eyes,” I blurted like an idiot.
Mine chose that exact moment to flicker to her mouth, and my heart started pounding so hard in my chest I knew she could feel it.
She lowered her head while I lifted mine.
And just when I was about to touch my lips to hers…
The doorbell rang.
