EPILOGUE

“Okay,” I say. “A pedicure yesterday that you didn’t want and now you’re here to get your fingernails done and I know you don’t want that either. Now spill it! What’s up?”
Sera smiles and then lets out one of her little girl giggles as she says, “Where should I sit?”
I shake my head. “You know where the nail stations are.”
“Oh, just take me there!”
She can barely contain herself and I roll my eyes and walk her to a station. She sits down and I sit across. She’s almost buzzing as she says, “What color should I get?” and puts her hand on the table.
“You always like cherry red,” I say, “So why would it…Oh my God!” I see her hand. More specifically, I see the big diamond ring on her hand.
She giggles and says, “He didn’t forget our anniversary!” She winces suddenly and then, her cheeks coloring red a little, says, “I got a spanking before I got the ring.”
I laugh and say, “Don’t you mean today I completely ignored my best friend’s advice, pitched a fit, and then got a spanking.”
She giggles. “Maybe.”
I sigh and say, “My god, Sera. You’re… I’m so happy for you. Peter might be the only man on Earth who could get you under control.”
“We’re going to celebrate tonight with some other Daddies and some other little girls. Will you come to dinner?”
“Is it okay?” I ask. I hope like hell the excitement in my voice isn’t too obvious. “I mean, if I’m not a little girl?”
She raises an eyebrow. “I think you are one. You just haven’t found a Daddy yet. Come on. Tabby will be there and you’ve known her for a long time. There might be a Daddy or two there looking for a little girl, too.”
I think my voice squeaks a little as I say, “Well, of course I need to go to my best friend’s engagement party.”
