“Carson,” I warn, but it doesn’t even matter. He swirls his tongue around my tight hole. Something I have never had done to me before and the feeling is exquisite. “Fuck,” I groan as his tongue moves faster, teasing the tight ring.
My legs start to shake and I think I am just about to come, but he pulls away from me, his mouth and fingers falling away, but within seconds his dick slams into me. Hard. So hard I fall forward on the bed, and he has to lift my hips up to keep control.
He pounds into me, his movements fast and strong. His hands controlling my hips and every now and then sliding up my sides, playing with my nipples. My legs start to shake but he doesn’t quit. He keeps going, his rhythm more intense than it’s ever been. My orgasm hits me out of nowhere, and he grunts as I squeeze his dick.
“God… fuck… Grace, baby…”
His words become as incoherent as mine as he owns my body, fucking me into oblivion, and slowly taking ownership of my heart.

I yawn as we pull onto the highway. We stayed up until nearly six in the morning fucking each other’s brains out. But it was different than the other times. I felt it. Those damn feelings.
We managed to take a couple-hour nap and order room service for breakfast before getting on the road.
I am in a state of bliss I haven’t felt in the longest time and it scares me. Because I know that something is going to change it. Change everything. I can feel it.
“So how are you going to get Cassie to testify? You know Phillips is not going to want to publicly admit he went to Wilmington and paid for sex. It’s a well-known fact he came here often, and everyone is going to think he was paying for sex the whole time. Which is illegal in and of itself. And for the governor to be paying a sex worker, in this state of all states, it’s going to be a shit show.”
Carson smirks at me. “This whole case is a shit show. But it’s better than him going to prison for capital murder.”
I shrug. “True. But it will ruin his reputation as a stand-up citizen of North Carolina. No one knew he was fucking everything that came into his office.”
“He is not seen as a stand-up citizen. His rep is already bad. Just another corrupt politician that is caught up with lies. But you are right, this is worse than any of their claims like gambling and drug use.”
“He won’t agree to her being on the stand.”
“That’s why he won’t know about it. I know it’s ruthless to not let him know about a witness, but she is the only way we will win this case.”
“No it’s not. You are Carson Taylor, I am sure you have a handful of tricks up your sleeve you haven’t shared with anyone else. And you will wait to share it with the rest of your legal team until it’s absolutely necessary.”
He raises a brow at me. “Have you been researching me?”
“I might have looked a few things up recently when my brother said something about you never losing a case.”
“I’ve only lost one in the twelve years I’ve been a lawyer.”
“To that asshole Tiffany is engaged to?” I ask because I want to gauge how over it he is. Because that plays a huge part in the way he feels about me.
“Yeah. Guy’s a prick. He’s a good lawyer. I get why she is with him. He has more money than I ever will since his family is big in investments. And she is getting what she wants, the society title and the paycheck to go with it.”
“Well, I bet his dick is small,” I snort.
Carson looks over at me and laughs. He reaches out and squeezes my hand. “Thanks for that. I needed it.”
I entwine our fingers, liking how it feels. Liking feeling like his.
We spend the next hour laughing and telling stories. My favorite is when he talks about his time with Owen. The two met at Columbia where they went for prelaw, and then they both chose to go to Duke for law school.
“I always thought it was strange Owen came out here for law school. He has New York blood, and I thought for sure he would practice in the city. But I guess it makes sense now that I know you. You two balance each other out so well. Although you are much smarter than him.”
“I’m going to tell him you said that.”
“Go ahead. I tell him I am smarter than him all the time.”
Carson laughs. “You are probably smarter than both of us.”
“One thing I never understood was why he went into criminal law. I always thought he would take over Dad’s firm and go into corporate law.”
