“Lead the way,” I answered.

“What if we can’t find seats?” Reba asked me. We trailed after Bare and Pet while he rushed her over to the outdoor auditorium a little way down the boardwalk.

“We’ll find seats. It’s never overly busy. It’s a novelty, and I thought it would be a good place to just hang out, eat and be together for a little bit.”

“So what is it?”

I watched her tongue catch a drip of ice cream while she looked at me. She couldn’t possibly know how sexual it seemed. My dick knew, almost feeling every flick along the cone. The length throbbed in my pants, begging for her to lick me just like that vanilla cone.

“Mars,” she prompted while I stared at her mouth. God, she was beautiful with her full lips that formed a perfect bow and big golden-brown eyes that seemed almost too big for her pixie face, and yet were absolutely perfect. Especially when they adored me in that heated way she thought I didn’t see. Fuck, it was the only thing to give me hope over the past year.

I wasn’t invisible to her. I wasn’t just her bosses’ kid. She wanted me. And fuck, the dirty things I wanted to do with her.

“Mars,” she said again, more firmly.

“Huh?”

“I asked you what the fountain is.”

“Oh. I mean, you might think it’s cheesy, but it’s fun. Over there…” I pointed to the hill across the channel from where we’d sit. “It goes off over there. The show is synchronize water, lights and music, the second largest fountain in the world after the Bellagio. It’s kind of cool. A little like water fireworks—which is why it’s after dark.”

We headed over to where Bare and Pet were halfway up the seating. I spread out the blanket I’d been carrying then helped Reba to sit. After I dropped down next to her, I pulled her close.

I quickly finished my cone before it melted all over my hand. It wasn’t the stickiness I really wanted.

“I should have gotten this in a cup with a spoon,” Reba muttered, looking away as she ate her ice cream.

“Why?”

“You’re making me a little self conscious.”

“Sorry.” Not really. I pulled her so she was half leaning on my chest while we both faced the fountains. We were cuddled together but I couldn’t stare at her face. The blaring music began as the water sprayed into the air.

I leaned into her ear. “I just can’t help thinking of something else you and I will do. Someday. But it can’t be soon enough.”

If she were sitting between my legs, she’d feel exactly how much I wanted her. It was more than want, and when I got back to my room tonight, I’d be taking myself in hand with her name on my lips.

With the music around us, our eyes fastened on the show, she didn’t respond, but her fingers clenched onto the middle of my thigh. She’d heard me. And she wasn’t pushing me away.
