KAI
“Where’s Raven?”I ask, nearing the two men.
Alejandro and Francisco shift their eyes to me, each holding a drink.
“I thought she was with you,” Alejandro says, moving his eyes away from me.
I look at Francisco.
“Don’t look at me. I have no idea. You talked to her for like an hour,” he grumps.
I look around the terrace.
“It wasn’t an hour. And by the way. I got complaints from her that you two were acting weird.”
“Look who’s talking,” Alejandro tosses at me, bringing his glass to his lips. “You got all pensive and spent time by yourself.”
Francisco laughs. Alejandro cracks a smile.
I order a drink.
“She threatened to go back to the hotel,” I throw at them, not thinking much about it.
They both look at me, waiting.
I gesture.
“It was a bluff. I’m sure she’s here, somewhere.”
I gesture at Francisco.
“I thought you swept her off her feet this evening. I expected her to be glued to you and follow you around like a puppy.”
Alejandro moves his eyes to him, cocking an eyebrow at him, waiting for his reply.
As much as we’re trying to pretend we’re not interested in what happened this evening, Alejandro and I have been consumed with it for the past few hours.
He didn’t say anything. And I didn’t confess either. We’re hardly the men who get into these details, but I noticed how restless he was while waiting at the bar in the hotel and then on our way here.
He was tense and monosyllabic, and I wasn’t in the mood to talk either. He only teased me about last night when they had waited for us in my apartment in New York.
They knew what had happened in the limousine, and before getting in the car, so he tossed a few comments at me.
But things were different with Francisco. He seemed more cool about it.
But not Alejandro.
Maybe because they happened back to back. Me and Francisco spending time with her alone, while Alejandro was the only one who hadn’t had her under him without sharing her with us.
It’s not that he is not competitive. He is competitive as fuck, but in this case, something irks him. I couldn’t tell Raven that.
I didn’t want her to read too much into it. Make her feel like she had the upper hand with him.
I don’t even think that’s it.
I don’t think it’s a matter of feelings.
