who I am. I’m not going to pass this off as a fluke or
something that I did as a drunken experiment.
I know exactly what this is.
This night means everything. This night is all the
possibilities in the world. This night is ours.
“A shower sounds really nice,” I rasp out.
“I don’t know. Wait until you see it. The bathtub is
slippery, so I had to put down these little foot grips all over, so
I don’t slip and freaking break something. It’s old. Yellow. The
spray sometimes doesn’t get all the way hot. It’s not very big.”
“All of those things,” I whisper as I stroke my finger
down the silky skin of Adley’s inner arm and watch the glow
of pleasure flush her face, “sound absolutely perfect.”
Chapter 17
Adley
I’m sure that when my boss calls me into the office on
Monday morning that I’m going to get fired. I was dragging
my heels on Steph’s file, but I did manage to wrap up a couple
of the other clients I was working on, and as far as I know,
unless they’ve changed their minds, both of them were happy
with their matches.
The office appears sinister, since I know what’s
coming. The big pink slip. Do they still give pink slips when
they fire you? Do they give you severance? It’s going to be so
embarrassing if I have to ask my parents for money to cover
rent and bills until I can get another job. Maybe I could talk to
Steph about it. She did say that she might be able to get me a
spot at her parents’ company. I’d just feel weird about it
though, especially after we spent a good part of the weekend
together.
