she was in the wrong and she was being nothing more than a
petulant child at this point. She wasn’t doing herself any
favors, but when Giana tugged, she didn’t back down. It made
her sick to be touched by this woman. She curled her fingers
around the manicured, flawless ones, and at the same time, she
stepped back. Giana was pulled forward, and then her hand
slipped away.
She let out a gasp as she stumbled back, trying to regain her
balance, but her heels slipped on the slick tiled floor. Coralyn’s
mouth opened to call out a warning. There wasn’t time for
one. Giana Thompson hit the floor, ass first, but at an awkward
angle with too much momentum, then her head slammed back
and hit the tile with a sickening, deafening smack.

“Holy shit, are you okay?”
Giana’s eyes were heavy. She lifted them anyway. The light
stabbed at her. God, it hurt. Her head was pulsing. Everything
was a mess. A dark, black, monstrous void. She blinked. There
was a face above her. A woman’s face. Dark shapes. Edges.
The void was darker. Edgier. Blacker. Emptier.
She tried to remember what had happened through the
pulsing. She could feel the cold tile of the floor under her
