would never be able to do it. She already ached, constantly,

and that was even with the releases Claire had given her.

Claire twisted Haley’s nipple and she let out a moan that

could probably be heard through the whole house. Her hands

never left the keys, even though her body bowed and twisted.

She was greedy. Insatiably greedy. She wanted more. She

wanted Claire. All of her.

What she didn’t want was to lose her. She didn’t want to

leave. She didn’t want the inevitable end to come. She no

longer wanted to escape. She no longer wanted her freedom.

Being free wouldn’t be what she’d once known it to be. It

would mean being without Claire, and where was the freedom

in that?

Haley knew she was in trouble. This couldn’t and wouldn’t

end well. Claire wouldn’t change just because she wanted her

to. She hadn’t even let her touch her yet. They were still who

they were. The woman who wanted revenge and the daughter

of her enemy. They were still fourteen years apart. Claire

wouldn’t change her mind about them not having a future. For

her, she could separate sex and emotion, but Haley was lost.

She was falling, and it was so hard because she knew she’d

only end up alone.

She knew she was pretty much doomed, and she poured her

anguish into the keys, all while Claire twisted and worked and

plied her nipple. She nuzzled Haley’s neck, gentler than she

ever had been.

All of a sudden, she tore her hand away and her mouth was

gone. Haley dropped her hands from the keys and spun

around. Claire took two steps back, creating a void between
