Claire fought against the rising tide of discomfort. It felt like

a ball in her throat. A ball of anxiety that she could barely

swallow back. The panic was there. Everything in her body

was ready for fight or flight. She was getting all the wrong

signals, because Haley was too close. This was too intimate.

They were face to face. Their bodies were wrapped around

Haley was the one she was supposed to keep safe, but right

now it didn’t feel like she needed protecting. She was the

protector. She was the one giving. She was doing all of that

without being the one who needed to be giving orders or being

the one on top. She wasn’t in control, and she wasn’t not in

control. They were perfectly balanced and that, above all, was

astounding to Claire.

And then Haley’s hand was skimming down between them,

and she was kissing Claire senseless, her tongue working

against her own, stroking it, and her hand was travelling lower,

between them, finding Claire’s clit again and working it in

smooth, measured circles. The anxiety skittered away, to be
