A Matter of Trust: A Carlsbad Village Lesbian Romance - Page 33

“Shit!” Morgan suddenly exclai

med, stopping. Chloë looked at her, worried that their date…

Fuck! No, not a date!!!

…was going to come to an abrupt end because Morgan had suddenly realized that she had left her iron on or that she had made an actual date tonight with some straight dude who was on his way over to her house now.

“What’s wrong?” Chloë asked.

“I just realized…I might have messed something up for you there!” Morgan said, looking apologetic. “Sorry! I mean, if what’s-her-name back there is somebody you’d want to get together with, I can assure you she’s definitely interested! Sorry!”

Chloë blew out a relieved breath.

The truth was, Jenna was hot. And in shape. With large breasts that the tight sweater she was wearing fit around like a second skin. Under normal circumstances, Chloë would have left Surf Girls with Jenna’s number and expectations that Jenna would be in her bed before the weekend.

But these weren’t normal circumstances.

Not with the Morgan Banks as her companion tonight.

Under these circumstances, Jenna might as well be a man.

Morgan made a gesture vaguely in the direction of the ice cream shop.

“If you’d like, we can go back and I can explain…”

Chloë giggled.

“It’s cool, dude.”

“Are you sure?”

Chloë quirked an eyebrow.

“You sound like you want me to go back there.”

“No!” Morgan blurted. Under the streetlamps illuminating the seawall, Chloë could see her blush. After a moment, Morgan cleared her throat. “No, I mean, I just wanted to make sure that you knew that I’m…you know, that I’m okay with it if you do want to go back.”

“But are you okay with it?”

Chloë didn’t know where the nerve to ask that question came from. Maybe it had come from the fact that Morgan was obviously out of sorts somehow and so her impudent nature just wanted to have some fun.

Morgan looked at her. Chloë felt her breath hitch. Suddenly, it was if she and Morgan were in their own separate bubble of atmosphere in which the air was electrified and the magnetic field of the Earth was intensified.

Holy shit!

“I’d rather you didn’t go back,” Morgan said softly.

Chloë blinked.

“Why?”

Morgan simply stared at her for several moments. Finally, though, she turned and resumed walking.

“Because we’re having such a lovely walk,” she called back to Chloë.

It took another three seconds or so, but Chloë managed to get her legs working to catch up to Morgan. As her legs moved, she was very much aware of the slickness between them.
