A Matter of Trust: A Carlsbad Village Lesbian Romance - Page 79

“There is no way you are going to be able to stay quiet tonight, Miss Banks.”

Chapter 27

“I miss you!” Sienna whined to Chloë a couple of weeks later over the phone.

Chloë was home with the day off. What’s more, her college was on spring break and so she didn’t even have classes to attend or coursework to finish. So, she had enjoyed having an entire day with nothing to do.

Morgan was also on spring break…sort of. In the time that they’ve been together, Chloë had come to realize just how much work teachers do even when they’re not teaching classes. Almost every day, Morgan’s duties kept her busy well past the time when classes at Barrington Woods were done, even more so now that she had gotten that sort-of promotion, and that hadn’t changed once the spring break began. Once upon a time, Chloë (like just about every student) believed that during the various breaks in the course of the school year, teachers sat at home doing nothing while still getting paid. Turns out that wasn’t the case.

Today, however, Morgan had promised to spend the day with her mother up in Irvine and so she had eschewed whatever work she had remaining and left Chloë’s house early that morning. Chloë had taken advantage of the alone time to go back to sleep before eventually getting up and basically decamping her bed downstairs to her sofa, where she lay watching whatever struck her fancy on Netflix.

It was a few minutes after noon when Sienna called.

“I know we can’t have sex,” Sienna continued, “but can’t we just hang out? You can even bring your new girlfriend! I don’t have to be at the Ink Well until six o’clock.”

Chloë smiled. She missed Sienna too, knowing that their friendship had become a casualty of her new relationship with Morgan.

“She’s not here,” Chloë informed Sienna. “What are you doing now?”

“Being bored. Have you been outside? It’s such a nice day!”

Chloë determined that she was getting tired of vegging out on the sofa.

“Beach?”

“Perfect!” Sienna squealed.

Chloë found her friend’s enthusiasm infectious. She sat up for the first time in who knows how long. The beach was her and Sienna’s thing. After all, what was the point of living in Southern California if you didn’t go to the beach at least once a week? Although, now that Chloë thought about it, the trade-off she’d made recently—incredible sex with the Morgan Banks versus suntanning with Sienna—was totally worth it.

“I’ll pick you up in, like, thirty minutes, dude.”

An hour later, Chloë and Sienna were laying on their backs side by side on two blankets on a relatively quiet stretch of sand they’d found not far from the seawall. Sienna had been right; it was such a nice day; cloudless and warm with an occasional breeze now and then that helped make sure the air didn’t get stifling.

Chloë had on her plain black bikini while Sienna was in a polka-dot one, cut high on her hip, and Chloë had to admit that her friend looked good. The problem, Chloë had discovered a while back, was that having a fuck-buddy who looked like Sienna meant that even when they were just hanging out as normal buddies, like now, it was hard not to think about having sex with her, knowing what it was like to have sex with her. But after secretly taking a few admiring glances at various parts of Sienna’s form, Chloë banished such thoughts.

“Seeing anyone?” she asked Sienna.

“Nah; but my blue vibrator and I are considering marriage,” Sienna answered frankly, making Chloë laugh. “Finally got batteries for it, by the way. I’ll be honest, though; it’s probably for the best. I’m so focused on my tattooing now that I’m not sure I’m girlfriend material. Vibrators don’t complain when you spend all your free time at home sketching tattoo ideas or when you work past midnight three nights a week. They don’t demand much.”

“Only fresh batteries every now and then,” Chloë stated.

“True. If only real women were that simple.”

“Hmm,” Chloë agreed. “But what you said about being girlfriend material…I actually worry about that for me, too. Like, when I open my own coffeeshop, I mean. Will I be so focused on making that work that I’ll have no time for a relationship?”

“Even a relationship with the sexy schoolteacher?” Sienna asked, nudging Chloë’s bare leg with her own.

Chloë wondered about that. Up until now, quite frankly, even though she had dated some really cool girls, she had never felt that connection with any of them which then made her look ahead to the murky future. The possibility had been there with Beth, Chloë had at one time believed, but then Beth got that job offer in Oregon and even though Beth had hinted that maybe they could move up there together, Chloë just wasn’t feeling that strongly about their relationship to make such a drastic change to her life.

But now she had Morgan in her life and Chloë could totally imagine wanting Morgan to still be around whenever she was able to finally open her own business.

In other words, as silly as it seemed, she wanted to find herself in a position someday to be worried about the effect running her own coffeeshop was having on her relationship with Morgan because at least that would mean she was still in a relationship with Morgan.

So…was she in love with Morgan?

But before she had a chance to mull that over, Sienna turned on her side to face Chloë. Doing so pushed her breasts together, making it seem like they would spill from her bikini top, and Chloë had to concentrate on not staring at them. Even worse, she had to concentrate on not touching them. Often, during their periods of being friends-with-benefits, her and Sienna would have fun seeing what they could get away with out in public, and with the way Sienna was laying on her side now, Chloë would have, in the pre-Morgan days, run her fingertip through Sienna’s cleavage before looking around to make sure no one was paying attention to them and then pulling aside one of the cups of Sienna’s bikini, exposing a nipple and pinching it, knowing how charged up that would make the other woman. Then, if they were still unnoticed, Sienna most likely would have run her fingers briefly over the crotch of Chloë’s bikini bottoms, tingling Chloë’s clit, the fact that it was done out in the open on the beach making Chloë that much wetter.
