Rachel quirked an eyebrow.
“And what was that?”
Amy held Rachel’s eyes with her own.
“She’s the one, Rach. Sally. She’s the one.”
“Wow. Really?”
Amy nodded.
Rachel bit her lip for a moment and then seemed to make a decision.
“Are you sure?” she asked. “I’m only asking because I’m your best friend and it’s my job and we’re not stupid teenagers anymore who think we’re in love with just anyone.”
Nodding again, Amy said, “I’m sure.”
“Because you and her just went through something majorly scary,” Rachel went on, “and that kind of thing can cloud your judgement.”
“Totally get it,” Amy said. “But that’s not what’s happening here.”
She tried to come up with a way to make Rachel understand but in the end, she decided to dispense with tricks and to just to tell her the truth.
“Rach,” she began, “I honestly thought I was going to die. It was that bad. But because I didn’t die, I just feel so happy to be alive! Like, whoever thinks about being alive? Most of us just take it for granted. But now I’m happy for it! And the thing is, I want my life to have Sally in it from this point forward because her presence will make me even happier to be alive.”
“Okay, fine, but—”
Amy cut her off.
“Listen,” she said. And now it was her placing her hand on Rachel’s arm. “This is going to sound really weird but hear me out.” Amy swallowed. “There was a moment on the plane when all that shit was happening, when we were looking at each other and I swear I could read her mind, Rach. She was telling me how she feels! She was thanking me for being with her and giving her joy. She was telling me that her and I were meant for each other. She was telling me that if that was the end, we’d spend eternity together.”
Rachel opened her mouth to speak but Amy quickly went on, stopping her.
“No, listen! And I was telling her the same kinds of things, just with my eyes, Rach. How she gave me so much happiness and how magical our time together was—stuff like that. And I could tell she heard me, Rach! Even though I never said a word.” Amy stopped, making sure she had Rachel’s un
divided attention. “Rachel…she’s the one.”
Rachel was staring silently at her. Her eyes were watering slightly and Amy knew she had succeeded in making her best friend understand.
“Well!” Rachel finally exclaimed. “How can I argue against that?”
“You can’t!” Amy told her with a smile.
“Makes me want to survive a plane crash with someone special sitting next to me. Brad Pitt, maybe.”
Amy made a face.
“Ugh! You straight women are so weird!”

That night, Amy was breathing heavily and almost drooling as she watched one of her small vibrators, a smooth pink one, disappear completely into Sally’s pussy, pushed in slowly by her finger. The buzzing sound of the vibrator was silenced as Sally’s sex swallowed the toy whole, Sally moaning erotically.
Amy gave Sally’s glistening pink folds a kiss, tasting the tang of her girlfriend’s arousal, before pulling up the blue cotton panties to once more cover Sally’s center.
“My turn,” she said.
She heard Sally click on different vibrator from Amy’s collection—another small one, this one purple. It was one of her oldest toys but it had certainly stood the test of time.
