“Really, I’d prefer to eat a pussy, but if you want me to bite Enzo’s dick off, I guess I could take one for the team.”
I don’t know why the comment is the one to finally make my temper completely snap but it is. I stand up, sweeping everything off of my desk. Lucia hops off the edge, just managing to get out of the way of the computer crashing to the ground.
I growl, my face hot as I push my desk over. The crash isn’t satisfying enough and I kick a boot into it. It doesn’t fly far enough.
“Fuck!” I turn, grabbing a book off of my shelf and throwing it across the room. It slams into a lamp, sending it tumbling to the ground. Glass shatters.
It’s still not enough.
A tinkering laugh enters my ears, harsh and high like silverware clashing.
My gaze snaps to my cousin as I find her on the ground laughing her ass off, not far from my destruction.
“Lucia, now is not the time to fucking test me,” I tell her. I push my hands into my pockets, trying to tamp down the urge to choke her.
She thinks this shit is funny.
How funny will it be when I’m in jail for going on a murder spree? Who will save her from Giovanni’s wrath every time she pisses him off then?
“I’m sorry, it’s just I’ve never seen you get so worked up over your playthings before,” she says, her laugh tampering down even though her eyes still dance with amusement. “I mean, aren’t you supposed to dispose of them before you can get attached?”
Attached?
Has she lost her fucking mind?
“I’m not attached to them!” I tell her. “I have a certain fondness for Enzo that I’ve never had for anyone else.”
“Love,” she cuts in with the last word I want to hear.
“He’s fun to fuck. He doesn’t care how bloody or violent I get, he craves it. And he’d do anything I ask of him, both in and out of the bedroom.” Though most of the time, when we fuck it definitely isn’t in a bed.
“Love,” she says again.
I point a finger at her. “Don’t say that shit again.”
“Why?” she asks, climbing to her feet. She folds her arms over her chest as she stares at me. “Certainly you realized you loved Enzo after you didn’t throw him away after the first few months.” Her brow crinkles as if she can’t believe me.
“It’s not love, it’s infatuation,” I bite out. “On his part,” I quickly add on.
“Sure,” she says and I don’t like the patronizing tone that she uses.
My jaw twitches.
I know exactly what I feel for Enzo and I’ll never say it out loud, not even with a gun to my head.
“So tell me, dear cousin, if it isn’t love, or infatuation on your part,” Her sarcastic tone is seconds away from making me knock her head clean off her shoulders, “why is that you think you’re upset?” she asks.
“I just fucking told you why!”
Her brow raises and this time I do take a swing at her.
She’s expecting it though and casually side steps out of the way, her brow rising higher.
“Lucia!”
She holds her hands up in surrender but I don’t miss the twitch of her lips. “I’m just trying to help you figure out the solution to your problem.” She plops a seat down on the ground, right next to the wreckage of my temper. She leans back on her hands and looks up at me like she’s a kid who just found a new candy in the candy shop. “Now, tell Doctor Lucia what happened to piss you off so thoroughly.”
I clench my jaw, tempted to kick her ass while she’s down, but I huff a breath and take a step back so she’s out of range of my feet.
