CHAPTER FOUR: NERYS
I’mstillstewingover Soskia and not eating when I yet again run into someone.
“God fucking damn it, watch where you’re going,” the words spill from my mouth before I can stop them. And when I look up at the tall, admittedly, handsome guy glaring at me, I don’t regret them.
At all.
Burnished orange hair that falls to his shoulders in soft waves, sharp eyebrows of the same color, a hawk straight nose, and plump lips turned into a deep frown, I’d fuck him. If he didn’t give such asshole vibes.
It’s like you’ve got to be one of three things to make it into this school, a jerk, an asshole, or a bitch.
Makes me wonder which one I am.
I fold my arms over my chest, narrowing my eyes at the man and gearing up for the fight that I already know is coming.
“Who the fuck do you think you are talking to me like that?” he asks, his nostrils flaring.
“The girl who just slapped one bitch and isn’t afraid to slap another,” I snap back at him.
His eyes are a weird yellow, almost gold and they widen at my words. His fists clench, drawing my attention to the muscles protruding from his sleeveless shirt.
He sneers at me and his face twists, morphing into something scary for a second before it snaps back into place.
Fucking shifter.
My stomach stirs and my chest tightens. Electricity brims along my skin, surprising me. There’s a tugging feeling in my chest, which I felt before but the other feeling is new. Unsurprisingly though, it doesn’t last long, sizzling and burning before it fizzles out without doing a damn thing.
Some fucking magic I’m supposed to have.
“You have no idea who you’re talking to, little girl,” he says, and I feel like I’ve already had this conversation twice today. Why does everyone around here seem to think they’re important? “I’m a fucking Fox.”
I give him a sneer, “Yeah, and I’m a fucking wolf, keep pissing me off and I’ll turn you into little red riding hood quicker than you can get rid of your fucking privilege.”
He recoils away from me.
I can’t claim to have ever been one of those people with a cool, calm, and collected head. However, stepping over the gates and into Nadouraz Academy has seemed to have put my anger into a special drive lately.
It’s all these assholes who keep coming at me crazy.
“I don’t have time for this,” I blow out, aware that I still have spaghetti staining my clothes and tangled in my hair. And there’s really no point in sitting up here and arguing with this guy. I’m sure another opportunity will rear its head at a time when I’m not covered in food and already brimming with anger from going at it with Soskia.
Maybe not the last part, it seems like it may be my destiny to argue with that bitch.
I move past the big ginger, bumping right into him. He doesn’t budge, his strong shoulder hurting as it slams into mine, but I try not to let the pain show on my face.
I can feel his hot gaze on the back of my neck but he doesn’t say anything to me as I march down the hall and slam out of the building. I’m halfway to my dorm when I become aware of footsteps marching in time with mine.
I whirl around prepared to give the fox guy another piece of my mind, but I pull up short when I see the guy who’d waved at me the first day I got here.
His eyes are a mystic green that seem to swirl with magic as he watches me. His lips spread into a wide grin, showing off pearly white teeth. He drifts close to me, a chain hanging from his dark jeans. When he stops a foot away from me, my eyes move down to his nails, taking in the black polish covering them.
“Let me guess, you want to take on round three of my anger,” I say to him coldly, preparing myself for another argument.
Just my fucking luck.
But instead of saying that I don’t know who he is or one of those other cheesy lines that seem to be in abundance at this school, he only huffs out a laugh. His eyes twinkle as they roam over me. “I’m not here for an argument. I figured I could escort you to your room, keep you out of trouble since you seem to attract it.”
Mirth dances in his eyes.
