The blue sedan was still parked on the other side of the road when I got home. I’d be gone for several hours now, longer than I’d planned. Hopefully, Cosmo had kept himself entertained. He’d turned into a TV junkie, binge-watching shows that were no longer popular but which he’d never seen before.
I let myself into the house through the garage, ready to call out to him I was home, but I snapped my mouth shut. Giggles followed by a deep rumble drifted to me. I didn’t bother to kick off my shoes but marched into the kitchen, where I found Cosmo standing beside Agent Ellis. Dressed in nothing but a miniskirt, pink-and-white-striped thigh-high socks, and a sleeveless top that let his flat tummy bare, Cosmo was leaning over the man’s arm.
“What’s going on here?”
Cosmo sprang away from Agent Ellis, his cheeks red. The other man jerked to his feet, swearing when whatever was in the cup he was holding spilled onto his shirt.
“Da-Hunter!”
I winced. We were so rarely in the presence of someone else that I’d gotten used to being “Daddy” twenty-four seven.
“Detective Neely.”
I frowned at the younger man. “It’s probably best for you to call me Hunter.”
“Noted. I realized I’d left my charger and came up to the house to ask if I could borrow one. Cosmo wouldn’t let me leave without coffee.” He chuckled. “There are coffee addicts, and there’s Cosmo.”
“I’ve had three cups!” Cosmo beamed.
“I thought I told you only one for now.”
“But it was so good. I just had to have two more.”
Ellis laughed. “See what I mean?” His laughter died down when I didn’t join in the fun. “Uh, well, I should go. Thanks for the charger, Cosmo.”
“You’re welcome, Devon. If you need anything else, you can always come up to the house.”
“You’re sweet. Thank you.”
Ellis walked by me, and I didn’t move until the front door closed.
“Are those for me?” Cosmo asked.
I stared at the flowers and candy in my hands and felt foolish for getting them. “I thought so, but I’m not sure anymore.”
“What do you mean, Daddy? The flowers are beautiful.” He bounded over to me and took the presents. He placed the flowers on the counter and opened the box of chocolate. One disappeared into his mouth. A moan slipped out of him. The sound reminded me of the way he moaned when I hit his prostate.
“What was Agent Ellis doing inside the house alone with you?”
“He came to borrow a charger,” Cosmo said with a mouthful of chocolate.
“How long ago was this?”
He shrugged. “I don’t know. A while.”
“About an hour?”
“About that. Why?”
“He didn’t come to borrow a charger, Cosmo.”
He made a face at me. “Are you sure? That’s what he asked me for.”
How could he be so clueless? One second a fiery vixen in my bed, begging for my cock, and the next, oblivious to his sex appeal.
“Agent Ellis stopped by for more than just a charger. He came because he wants you.”
“Are you sure?”
