It’s the perfect way to ring in the new year.
Alex steps back and smiles up at me while stroking my cheek. “Tommy, I—”
“Ugh, gross.”
I turn around to see Tabitha stumbling toward us while clutching a bottle of Mad Dog. I roll my eyes. “Who even drinks those anymore?”
“Shut up, freak.”
“Don’t talk to him like that,” Alex warns while stepping in front of me. “What do you want, Tabitha?”
She shrugs and gestures around. “A break.”
“Well, we’ll give you one,” I tell her. I take Alex’s hand, but she pulls back, nodding for me to go ahead of her. “You sure?”
“I’m positive,” she tells me. “Go on. I’ll be there soon.”
I kiss her cheek and hesitantly leave her with the scummy chick that can’t seem to leave Parker alone. And now she seems like she doesn’t want to leave Alex alone.
I hope she doesn’t become a problem that I have to handle.
