The Confession

They’re identical twins. And they’re staring at me.
A flutter of unease rippled through her. “Are you lost?”
“Nah, baby,” the twin on the right murmured. “Just enjoying the view.”
Oh, she’d heard this shtick before. When she’d worked at Bazookas, drunken frat boys who loved to flirt, proposition, and grope had been the bane of her existence.
Flashing the same plastic smile that used to generate good tips, she nonchalantly clasped her cell phone and arched her brows. “The pool is really nice. Don’t you think?”
The twins exchanged cocky grins, then dragged their hungry stares up her body.
“Sure. Can I ask you a question?” The twin on the right leered.
You just did.Instead of pointing out the obvious, Heavenly sighed and hoped she didn’t regret this. “Sure.”
It was obvious the guys weren’t from LA. In fact, their accent was almost like Seth’s, but thicker and stronger, so it was possible the pair had gotten lost and needed directions.
“That’s a sexy swimsuit, but you wanna know what you’d look better in?”
Here came the pickup lines. She should have known better. “I have a feeling you’re going to tell me.”
“Our arms,” they growled in tandem.
She burst out laughing. “Really?”
“Yeah. Do you know what we have in common with the Little Mermaid?” the other twin finally spoke up with the same thick East Coast accent.
“I’m afraid to ask.”
“We both want to be a part of your world.”
Heavenly moaned and shook her head. “Do these lines actually—”
“Wait. Don’t shut us down yet. We’re just getting warmed up,” the first twin pleaded.
“Yeah. Hang on.” The second one held up his hand. “Yo, man. I thought we were at a swimming pool, but we must be in a museum because you, baby, are truly a work of art.”
The first twin sat beside her with a seductive smile. “Do you have a name or can we just call you ours?”
Heavenly rolled her eyes and laughed again. “You can call me flattered. But sorry, guys. I’m taken.”
“He’s an idiot for leaving you alone.”
Suddenly, the second twin, the one who seemed slightly more reserved, plucked up the tube of sunscreen and squeezed a big dollop in his palm before flanking her. “Let me get your back for you, beautiful. We don’t want all that milky, smooth skin to burn. Do we?”
“Actually, I was going to—” She gasped when the cool lotion met the warm flesh directly below her neck and sent him a side-eyed glare.
He just flashed her a crooked smile, kept right on gliding his palm over her, as he leaned close to her ear. “You know, you’re proof that aliens exist, because you’ve abducted our hearts.”
She laughed again. Despite being overeager, they were somehow charming. “Like I said, I’m taken.”
“Maybe, but you haven’t lived until you’ve been taken by two men at once. Men who know how to blow your pretty little mind,” the first one groaned, sliding his hand over her back to help his brother spread the lotion. “Trust me, baby, once you’ve had twins, you won’t go back.”
“Jack. Connor. What the fuck are you doing here with your hands on my woman?” Seth bellowed behind her.
They’re his brothers?
The twins jolted and jumped to their feet, then immediately backpedaled as the PI prowled toward them wearing a murderous scowl.
