Heavenly gasped. “The babies are coming?”

Seth nodded and held up a finger. “Of course, man. Text me your location. I’ll throw on some clothes and be there ASAP.”

Heavenly grinned at Beck. “The babies are coming.”

“They do that, usually after nine months.” He smirked.

She playfully swatted his arm as Seth ended the call.

“Sorry, I didn’t mean to wake you both,” he apologized as he hurried to the dresser and pulled out clothes. “River just got off the phone with Hammer. Raine’s water broke half an hour ago, so they rushed her to the hospital. Since River wants to be there for his sister, he asked me to take over his stakeout.”

She glanced at the clock. “At two thirty in the morning?”

He nodded. “I’ll be back shortly after sunrise. The prick cheating on his wife always leaves his girlfriend’s house before then.”

“If you know he’s there, can’t you just—”

“Tell the wife? She knows. But she’s paying me for photos of them together. She plans to give them to her lawyer.” Seth dragged on a pair of dark jeans. “So far, he’s let himself out the door every time. Maybe because his sidepiece can’t walk when he’s finished with her? I don’t know. But we need a damn photo of them, preferably in some compromising position.”

As Seth tugged a black T-shirt over his head, Heavenly climbed over Beck. She didn’t get far before he cinched his strong hands around her waist and pulled her down on his growing erection. “Where are you going, little girl?”

His deep, raspy invitation had goose bumps erupting across her arms. “Bathroom.”

“Ahh.” Beck released her with a wolfish grin. “Hurry back.”

“So we can go to the hospital?” she asked eagerly, pausing at the bathroom door.

“To sit and wait? We can.” Beck shrugged. “But it might take hours. First deliveries usually do.”

“I know. I’m just excited. And Raine is understandably nervous.”

“She has Liam and Hammer and the best ob-gyn team in LA. She’ll be fine.”

After taking care of business, Heavenly returned to the bedroom to find her men gone. Masculine voices coming from below told her they were in the kitchen. After sliding on her robe, she padded down the stairs, where Seth was securing the lid of his go mug while Beck popped in a pod to brew his java.

“Any idea how dilated she is?”

“No clue. I didn’t ask. Besides, I doubt River knows anything about that stuff,” Seth scoffed.

“True. He’s more way more focused on orgasms than babies,” Beck pointed out.

Like someone else we know.

Heavenly didn’t speak her thought aloud. She knew why Seth had avoided even talking about having children. But as Raine’s pregnancy had progressed, Heavenly began thinking more about the future and family and all the things she hadn’t had since her own childhood. Would it be smarter to wait until she was out of nursing school and a little more established in her career? Yes. But her father’s early, untimely death had taught her that no one was guaranteed tomorrow.

Sighing, Heavenly eased in beside Seth. He wrapped an arm around her as she plucked a tea pod from the rack. “Do you want me to pack a snack for you before you leave?”

He flashed her a warm smile. When he looked at her like that, it was impossible to be upset with him about anything, especially not being over the devastating trauma that had him reluctant to start another family. “No, angel. I want you to go back upstairs, climb into bed, and get some sleep.”

She shook her head. “I’m too awake and too keyed up about Raine.”

“I’ll do my best to exhaust you again,” Beck drawled with a wicked wink.

“Lucky bastard. Sometimes, owning your own business really blows,” Seth grumbled before cupping her nape and claiming her lips until her toes curled. “Try not to have too much fun without me, angel.”

She flashed him a shyly vampy grin. “Well, if you get home early enough…”

“If you keep teasing me like that, I’ll break down the mistress’s door, snap a photo of them in bed together, and haul ass home.”
