“Have you explored ways to protect the tech systems from cyber threats?” Pedro probed.
“I just stepped into my new role a month ago. At that time, I knew you were coming in to head the cybersecurity efforts. I’ve gathered some data for you but have put nothing into place.”
“I’d love to see that data.”
“I’ll have my admin send it to yours. Do you have an admin yet?” Belinda asked.
Pedro looked at his watch. “I have ten minutes to make it back to my office for the first interview. Supposedly, someone named Fane picked out three candidates he recommended for the position. Do you know him?” Pedro asked with a piercing look.
“Fane’s incredible. He worked his way up from the administrative assistants’ pool to work with the second-in-command of Edgewater. If he recommended them, you’re in expert hands,” Belinda assured him.
“Send me that data if you would. I’ll let you know my admin’s name when I know it. Can I take you to dinner tonight?” he asked.
“Got more questions, huh?” she joked.
“No. I want to spend time with you,” he answered directly.
“Really?” she squeaked before falling back on her professional persona. “I mean, do you think that’s wise?”
“We’ll figure that out. I’ll knock on your door at six.” His deep brown eyes held her gaze until she nodded.
“Thank you, Little girl. Six.”
Belinda opened her mouth to ask if he needed her to walk him out of the warren created by the stacks in the server center but got sidetracked watching his toned derriere disappear down the aisle.
